better off going with contempt of court proceedings, might be our only chance of seeing lowry behind bars
Itâs been suggested on the VB show that the Gardai could not rely on tribunal findings.
Would suits brought against the state (for damages) carry an âon the balance of probabilitiesâ standard of proof? Could be interesting in terms of the losing companies back at the bid stage.
How about OâBrien pays back some of the E250 million the tribunal cost due to his obfuscation
of course they couldnt rely on it, its mostly conjecture and hearsay. and the evidential threshold is lower.
i dont know how much of the stuff in the tribunal would be admissable in a civil suit by the losing parties, theyâd also have to get over the statute of limitations
The payments they have tracked arenât âhearsayâ and âconjectureâ. Thereâs an avenue for a criminal investigation should the government choose to pursue it.
the route of the payments is a conjecture at this stage, there is no hard evidence that oâbrien gave money to lowry, he probably did, but not beyond a reasonable doubt
Throw the blueshirts down the well.
Can the government be seen to take no action on this? Is it possible that they hope the stress testing of the banks will bury all this tribunal report unpleasantness and itâll go away on its own?
probably hoping that the mahon report comes along and saves them
Of course it will go away, they will do nothing, same as with the banks. The media will forget about it after a couple of days. Listen to the people on the streets of Thurles today, nearly all of them backed Lowry. OâBrien and OâReilly between them they control most of the Irish media and thus most of the debate. The public donât care. Mary Harney was right when she said they had short memories.
Sure did you hear yer man on Liveline asking Ben Dunne for a million quid? Ben said he didnât have that much to give him but if he sent him a brown envelope heâd gladly send him a couple of quid, yer man roared with laughter and replied âah Ben, the oul brown envelopes! Sure ye canât bate 'em biy!!!â and the two of them had a grand chuckle.
It was quite distressing to listen to.
Ganleyâs on again. Should be worth a watch.
Vincent just rescued a very laboured hurling analogy by Declan Ganley by cracking a joke about the Limerick hurlers
Lowry has the sadisfaction of screwing Ganley
Ganley cuts a noble figure in the morass of Irish political life
he made political donations to ff
Ah heâs some snake
As snakes go heâs one of the best around.
Joe Higgins needs to learn that speaking slowly is sometimes quite annoying.
Higgins come across extremely pompous with this slow speaking lark
Thought that was a decent debate last night. At one stage Vincent didnât speak for about five minutes which must be a record.
Elaine Byrne is a very good commentator I find.
Joe Higgns seems to have the same buzzwords every time he is on the air - âworkersâ, âcapitalist property speculatorsâ
I wouldnât trust Ganley as far as Iâd throw him.
