Exactly - I’ve seen the inside of those ivory towers and they are empty — 90% of academia is fraudulent and pure codswallop
I went to the doc a couple of times last week — Neither women behind the front desk were wearing masks - albeit the 4 at a time they allowed wait were - I had mine on but there was no signage up saying please wear a mask nor were instructions given to wear one when I made appointments - So I took it off and nothing was said. The doc came out and went behind desk area with no mask but put one on in the consultation room tho I got the impression that was for appearances only … I’d say medical people know they’re largely a cod unless you are wearing medically approved equipment rather than flimsy poly ones or some home made efforts… I left to get cash and returned with no mask and nothing was said by the lovely ladies behind the counter.
Coercion.
Best to wear them and be sensible and compassionate to the fears of your common man and woman.
Absolutely, if it makes you feel safe by all means go for it. Just be armed with the knowledge it’s doing fuck all
Look it, it’s not a silver bullet. It’s just another tool in the armoury, like hand hygiene, social distancing and coughing and sneezing etiquette.
The scientific community is windmilling here.
How long will masks be necessary? There are currently 11 people in hospital in Ireland with this illness. What does that number, or any number (cases, deaths etc) before they are no longer needed?
Nobody knows mate. Nobody.
I’m accepting of this fact. My modus operandi is to follow the guidelines, whether or not I agree with them, as best i can and not get too worked up either way.
+1
Are there guidelines you wouldn’t follow?
I broke the 5km thing to go golfing for my own sanity
Why are you doing the masks then?
My issue isn’t with the masks, or any other specific guideline, though some were more rooted in logic than others. I wear a mask at work.
But I’d hate to see wearing a mask, never traveling out foreign etc become normalized.
I also would hate to see the enforcement or policing of these guidelines become too heavy handed.
This virus is dangerous but I don’t believe it’s so dangerous that we need to permanently undo our way of life for it
I already said I wore a mask last week - I’ll have to if I want to do a shop for the family - But it’s pure codswallop.
None of this should be normalised. I’ve maintained that from the start, but I’d think you’ll agree this isn’t a normal situation.
I’m wearing a mask because I believe the people making these decisions are doing so in the best interests of public health based on the information they have to hand at the given time. The situation is chaotic in terms of data, advice and understanding the virus. Theres a race to the bottom in the scientific community.
I’m applying occams razor here. To think theres a global conspiracy to subjugate the worlds population and normalise these activities is a step too far. Likewise stopping the global economy.
I don’t necessarily agree with all of it, spending energy on the bits I don’t seems counter productive. I’ve decided to roll with it and do as best I can to look after me and mine. If other people want to fight the man, go ahead. You do you
It begins - Masks with valves arent worth a wank apparently
“ScienceDaily”
Surgical masks stop droplet spreads.
Whether droplet spreads, spread Covid 19 is a different question.
Evidence seems to suggest 80 per cent wearing masks achieves same as a lockdown.
Masks may have to be normal to carry on as normal.
