Wedding Etiquette

The priest delayed the wedding because he hadn’t a second mi sister for the Eucharist, that must have been bizarre

Fair play to her, she’s a better man than you

I live in her shadow

I heard middling wedding venues are charging 150 now. So if you are to cover your costs as a couple you’d have to be giving €300. Anywhere nice €400 wouldn’t cover you.

Now these apes spending 70k on their weddings would want their heads examined.

I see no reason to match the gift to the venue. That’s madness.

If you want to have the big wedding, cough up yourself and don’t expect the guests to.

Those who got married in 2009-2014 (much of my generation) probably came out the other side in profit

250/300 seems to be around the norm now going as a couple!! But not many venues now under 100 a head it’s gone crazy

I agree, but that was the logic to the money originally, cover the costs for you being there.

Tis madness what people are paying now. They should go way and get married and invite everyone to the pub afterwards

Having your 20s during a recession is actually great. Cheap houses, cheap rent, cheap weddings, cheap holidays

Please refrain from bringing common sense into the equation.

People have lost the run of themselves.

We were the chosen generation. We had it all.

That cunt Michael Noonan would have said as much.

Exactly. And this thing of having a wedding midweek to get a venue cheaper is more bullshit, requiring people to take more annual leave and doubly fucking over anyone with kids.

€3 fosters felt like suffering but really it was #winning

I don’t know how we did it

I see no reason at all why you would expect to “cover the costs” of your wedding.
If someone gave me 400 quid I’d give it back to them.

Sounds like the whole wedding malarkey is heading for a reset. It’ll probably go back to how it used to be, just a small crew of family and friends, affordable, good craic, and the way it should be.

70k for a bloody wedding? Its enough to put a lad off getting married, again
