Weekend Betting

A very tricky weekend to bet in the premiership.

everton are to be stayed well clear at (8/11) to beat fulham. granted they won at bolton but still played brutal by all accounts. fulham beat sunderland easily. johnson finally scored too. i think zamora and himself could have joy against an out of form everton defence.

middlesboro v west ham. west ham are in free fall. i have just backed them to go down at 5/1. no money and an inexperienced manager. boro should turn them over but backing them at any time is the reason why bookies make money. stay well clear

PP go evens on pompey to beat wigan. at home, a new manager and wigan having an awful time mean that this is a very tempting. wigan arent as bad as recent results are showing and i think steve bruce could get a badly needed result.

arsenal at 4/9 is way too skinny after their midweek shenanigans. cant see them keeping a clean sheet but should pull through.

liverpool(5/4) away at spurs (11/4) is also tempting. for all the mythical 'arry factor arsenal should have put at least 6 past a thoroughly woeful spurs defence. this should be a cracking game tho and better to be enjoyed without having funds on. ledley king should be back. alan hutton will prob be in fat camp the useless fuck- 9m. ouch

my value bet of the week is a bit of a curveball. i think west brom are a great price 8/5 (VC bet) to beat blackburn at home. this certaintly wont be a 0-0 draw but i watched west brom in the second half v newcastle and they played them off the park. blackburn by all accounts played well at villa but were still 3-1 down until a goal in the last second. they cant defend at all and are missing warnock and santa cruz. west brom need to winning games like this to stay up and i think they can.

leeds havent won away for a good while. they wont get a better chance against a cheltenham side who are in dreadful form and are missing 10 players. (5/6) for those of you who fancy it.

NAP of the wk is a skinny one. most of us got paid this week. a man utd chelsea double will only pay prob a 40% return. could cover lunch for the month. But it is a recession proof certainty.

Portsmouth look a good price out of that lot, think WBA are decent value as well but no part to play in an accumulator. Might be useful on their own though.

I’ve been very reluctant to put my bets on here in recent weeks due to a superstition about jinxing them but the Bundesliga has settled down a bit recently and it’s doing ok for me. Keeping things very tight and just looking for value and small profits. Singles and doubles and the odd treble.

In today’s games Bayern are 2/9 at home to Bielefeld and they should beat them handily. They’re beginning to play well again are Bayern and Bielefeld are pure rank.

Bremen at home to Hertha Berlin are 3/4 with the Berliners at 10/3. Hertha are having a decent season and Werder are just woefully unpredictable. Bremen were beaten at home by the improving Leverkusen during the week and haven’t won in 7 so 3/4 is no kind of odds for them. Berlin might be worth an interest but I’ll stick clear.

Stuttgart are home to Koeln and at 4/7 they’re probably not quite attractive enough to invest in. They’re playing alright but they’ve been a bit rocky recently and Cologne have been reasonable.

Hamburg are 11/10 at Hannover. Hannover have had a tough run of games recently, playing Leverkusen, Schalke, Bayern, Dortmund, Bremen and now Hamburg. They managed to turn Bayern over but other than that they’ve been very mediocre and I expect an in-form Hamburg to go there and win.

Schalke are 8/11 for their visit to Cottbus. The Eastern Germans have lost three of their last four, only scraping a draw against the equally hapless Bielefeld. I’m already involved in this match as part of a midweek coupon that extended into the weekend thanks to an administrative error but 8/11 is a cracking price for Schalke.

The last of today’s games is Hoffenheim at home to Karslruhe. Bit late to be jumping on the Hoffenheim bandwagon but a price of 4/9 isn’t terribly mean considering they’ve won 4 in a row and the Swabians have lost 4 in a row.

Sunday sees Frankfurt travel to 'Gladbach. Neither side will be feeling particularly confident after losing midweek. Frankfurt were certainly better in defeat against Bayern but Gladbach were well worth their win in their last home game under their new manager (can’t remember the lad’s name) so it’s a tough call so I’m not going to bother.

Finally Dortmund entertain Bochum in the Ruhrgebiet derby. Dortmund are as fickle as ever but it’s 8 games since Bochum won a game and that was against Bielefeld. 8/13 isn’t too shabby.

In summary I’d look at Schakle, Dortmund, Hoffenheim, Hamburg, Bayern as winners and probably in that order in terms of value.

4 goals or more in the Stoke-Arsenal game is worth a punt at 6-4. I can’t see Arsenal defending set-pieces too convincingly so would expect Stoke to score one or two goals.

There aren’t many stand out bets in the top two divisions today but Swansea at 6-4 away to Doncaster is about the best of them.

Further down the divisions Leeds at 5/6 away to Cheltenham and MK Dons at 10/11 home to Tranmere are two worth backing. In League 2 Brentford, who are unbeaten at home and 4th in the table, are 11/8 at home to Rochdale (who are in 8th).

In the GAA, this weekend I’ll be doing an accumulator of Oulart, Ballyboden, St Galls, Ballinderry and Kilmacud (in the football not hurling), which works out at about 5/1.

Late Keith Andrews goal sunk my Value bet for west brom. they should have been well out of sight then anyway.

The NAP came through tho. wont make you that rich but money is money.

leeds beat cheltenham 1-0

i had 2k on monaghan utd to beat longford on friday night, easy money
