Wexford GAA 2010

I hope itā€™s a better Wexford team than last year. We need a test to keep us on our toes before Galway.

Do Leinster winners definately have Galway in the A/I semis???

I presume that is the case. Im 99.999% sure the practice of having Galway face the Ulster winners has been ended, rightly so. In 2007 we played Antrim in the semis and KK played them last year as well so that would confirm it.

you would be correct, ah that is great newsā€¦

Hereā€™s hoping for a Clare V Dublin A/I final if we get over Tipp or Cork in the Munster final

Very impressed with Eoin Moore last night.

Mark Fanning is a bit dodgy in the goal, came out for the ball twice when he hadnā€™t a prayer of winning it cleanly.

Full back was a bit weak as well.

Ref was awful in the second half and seemed to be trying to play Carlow back into it at tie, particularly for their second goal.

Minors meeting the blues

WEXFORD, who already have a victory under their belts, will be hoping to build on last yearā€™s progress when they take on the challenge of Dublin in the Leinster Minor hurling championship semi-final at Parnell Park on Saturday afternoon next.

Beaten provincial finalists last year, they eventually lost out in the All-Ireland quarter-final to Tipperary, but only after extra-time, which showed real progress at this level for the Model county.

Captain of the 1996 All-Ireland winning side, Martin Storey, has brought a spirit and commitment to the squad, while along with their improved individual skills, they will present a serious challenge to the Dubs, who could feel somewhat deflated following their Seniorsā€™ mauling at the hands of Kilkenny.

Wexford travelled to Oā€™Connor Park in Tullamore for their opening game where they saw off Offaly after extra-time.

They had seven points to spare in the end but more importantly they hit the impressive tally of 321.

It was a welcome victory but, given the standard of Minor hurling in the province, the team will need to take their game to another level to see off the Dubs challenge. The side has prepared well, with Storey putting in a huge effort trying to bring about the necessary improvement to take their championship one step further.

The players have responded in a positive way and should high expectations not be placed on their shoulders by supporters, and they are allowed to relax and settle into their gameplan, then they are capable of taking something from this game.

This is a Wexford team that has become used to winning through the various under-age competitions which should have done their confidence good.

But this is a significant step up for the young players and how they settle into the game early on will have a significant impact on the eventual result.

The side has fine defenders in Conor Goff at full-back and Lee Chin who will command the centre-back berth, while both James Gordon and Ian Byrne are skilful and effective midfielders.

Diarmuid Oā€™Keeffe and Gary Moore will carry the main scoring threat in an attack that showed an ability to capitalise on their chances in the Offaly victory.

As Wexford continue their preparations this week, they have no injury worries, with Storey and his fellow mentors picking from a fully-fit squad.

Footballers unchanged for London game

Iā€™d strongly urge all members to boycott Whiteā€™s Hotel, Wexford, in the wake of their sponsorship arrangement with Clonard GAA Club. Far superior hotels in Wexford town include The Talbot Hotel, The Riverbank House Hotel, The Ferrycarrig Hotel, The Whitford House Hotel and The Maldron Hotel. The latter in particular is quality.

Anyone heading over?

never gets old eh?

First time Iā€™ve used it this week in fairness, GMan.
Iā€™m not going to London - lack of motivation more than anything.

Any news on how Muttley and Walshes injuries are progressing?

half thinking of going to london, want to get my arse in gear

Their Injuries are getting better and not worse.

Iā€™d imagine it would be right craic if you were over for the Saturday night before. Wonā€™t be able to make it myself but would appreciate a report from lads that do.

I had already opted not to renew by gym membership due to this Bando.

fomr all reports i hear the lads are flying in training, but london are waiting in the long grass fo us, i think it will come down to whos hungrierā€¦

Great work, croppy.
count, thatā€™s encouraging to read. But instead of saying ā€˜from all reportsā€™, you should really have said ā€˜I know someone close to the panelā€™.
