I am very very reliably informed that Jack Guiney will be back on the panel for your next championship game. Trust me
In fairness they made a fair go of it in the second half. Couldnāt believe they still had OāKeefe as a sweeper in the second half.Kenny should have been on from the start as well.
I didnāt see the game but was listening to the game on the radio on the way home from a family function. I just couldnāt get my head around that when Damien Fitzhenry was interviewed at half time and acknowledged that it was part of managements master plan to play against the wind. For a team that was low on confidence after the hiding they got off Kilkenny the last day, a good start was imperative. For that one decision alone (regardless of what went before) management should be fired.
Are you still wearing them?
Dunne was interviewed on Sky after the match. He knew nothing about the decision to play against the wind as it was left up to the players. Wasnāt discussed in the dressing room.
Looking like a total shambles of a setup this year.
Awful year for Wexford hurling.
Dunne will surely be moved on after this will he?
Cork were there for the taking.Weād benefit massively from some sort of tactics We have the bones of a good team.
Unfortunately itās looking like an awful year for all the 1B teams bar Waterford.
Hard to disagree with that, look at least weāre still in the Liam McCarthy cup. Iām a lot happier with us now from 1-9, and Iām looking forward to seeing Downes get his chance starting at FF tomorrow.
Not all is lost yet pal.
Good man Stoney.
Yeah, so actually deciding to play against the strong breeze when confidence was already fragile worked a treat. Playing an extra defender in front of the full back line was fairly futile given Cork used the numerical advantage further out the field and popped over points from distance.
I donāt know if Griffin taking a step back this year had an adverse effect on the squad. The team collectively looked unsure of themselves and they lacked structure and cohesion.
But, yeah, pretty shit tonight not aided by the bizarre decision to put ourselves on the back foot from the outset.
Possibility that Derry-Wexford will be fixed for Clones due to the July 12th weekend ācultural celebrationsā taking place in the Occupied Six. I imagine Derry are fighting that but itāll be confirmed in the next couple of days.
That would be a ray of sunshine on an otherwise very cloudy day.
Another thought, has Eoin Moore gone completely backwards or is it just Dunne singling him out? He was one of our best players last season.
I canāt remember who I was disagreeing with on here about JJ a few weeks back but by fuck do we need him now.
Thatāll be me. At least there will be a level of intelligence and man management skills.
Billy Roche would be proud of you.
I think u speak for all hurling people when I say that seeing Wexford fucked out of the championship after 2 good hamerings is just deserts for the Andrew Shore scandal.
They were never going to have any luck after that.
Liam Dunne said he didnāt know Wexford won the toss and always leaves the decision about what way to play up to the players. Post-match interviews from both sides here: http://www1.skysports.com/gaa/hurling/news/30554/9903785/corks-stunning-first-half-seals-wexfords-fate
Who speaks?
That has to be one of the dumbest things I ever heard a manager say, and it says it all about Dunne. Does he accept any responsibility? He said it was the players who decided to get rid of Guiney, and now says the players decide themselves when they get out on the field what way to play. Whatever about wanting players to stand up and be counted for, but to not even be part of the decision making of hugely critical things that to me fall within the remit of a manager is utterly shambolic.
