Larry Murphy appeared out of no where to sicken them.
Was in Kilkenny that day. They outnumbered ye by about 4 to 1. Think ( could be wrong) that day put pay to Fergus Hartley
We reverted to youth that day by bringing in 33 year old Larry Murphy and 35 year old Dave Guiney
Edit - I think 34 year old Larry OâGorman also returned during that game. @bandage will confirm
He most certainly did.
OGorman started
WEXFORD: D. Fitzhenry, D. Guiney, D. Ryan, D. OâConnor, D. Stamp, D. Ruth, L. Dunne, L. OâGorman, R. McCarthy, B. Lambert, A. Fenlon, M. Jacob, C. McGrath, P. Codd (capt.), R. Jacob.
Subs: L. Murphy for Fenlon (24th minute), M. Jordan for Lambert (second half), T. Mahon for OâGorman (58th), M.J. Furlong for McGrath (71st).
I remember most of us asssuming the naming of Larry at midfield was a joke but he actually hurled there despite not being able to run. Thought Murphy came on for someone else but fairly sure he won man of the match on RTE.
Guiney, OâGorman, Murphy with a combined age of nearly 100 - sure youâll win nothing with kids
That was Larryâs last year. Had captained the team the year before.
WILL YE WIN NEXT WEEK??
Very 50/50.
Loveky twee article here but not very inaccurate either
What about the Clare game
Clare will beat Galway. Clare Tipp semi final should be good viewing.
I know I said earlier to Iron Mike that weâd beat the Blaaâs, but the more I think about it, Iâm on the fence. Offaly were ahead for good bit of first half until they went up a gear. We really should be beating them out the gate if they want to be contenders. Cork are in a bad way by their standards but they still beat Dublin who beat us.
Youâre forgetting there was a fair wind ye hurled against in the first half against Offaly. If ye hurl them with 15 and for get about this sweeper shit, yeâll take em.
Thatâs Wexford for ya. Never ramp home. If that was yourselves or Clare yaâs would have them bet by half time. Wexford never fear Waterford, should have beaten as well in the league quarter finals the last two years.
I think Waterford are now in a situation where they know that their current game plan is not good enough. They play not to loose rather then to win. This is their major flaw. While that system may work in football, hurling is way too fast to allow that type of game. Ye have a right chance here.
At least they donât have anything to moan about like seven days since the last match or anything like that. Letâs hope for the best.
In addition I think ye have a huge advantage in the following.
Of the four quarter finalists, ye are probably seen as the weakest. John Mullane has put huge pressure on Waterford after their win over Clare.
Give us the minor and Iâll change jerseys after that
I havenât been talking to anyone about this years minors not have I seen them but apparently they got shafted badly by the referee in the Leinster final, missing best player now due to a non red card.
