Wexford GAA 2020

Classic Brendan here. Galvins next move will determine what stance Brendan takes for the duration of his management career with Wexford.

Christ but Brendan is some pain in the hole.

Thereā€™s no room for sentiment in this game

I must remember that Wexford are the Model county for a few Galvin jokes later in the year.

Without knowing the ins and outs of this Galvin in big trouble here!! Waters o Grady and rossieter probably the 3 best players Wev had recently

Rossiter? He would do well to make the team, and hasnt exactly nailed down a spot. Far from one of the best 3 players on the squad. In the top 20 yeah, but if he was dropped due to playing ability I doubt too many would be going mad over it. O Grady is a decent player and can be good. Waters I would say the only one of those who could claim to be one of the better players in recent years, along with Mick Furlong. A bit of chatter too over Matt Doyle being dropped, but again, Iā€™m not sure he is the best keeper in the county and Iā€™d probably rate the ones in the squad now ahead of him.

Galvin fucked up over dropping Furlong. It was completely unnecessary.

Terrible St. Mogues bias against Co. stalwart Kevin Oā€™Grady.

sure he may as well be a Mogues man.

And all joking aside, do you think he was one of the best 3 players we have had recently?

i must send you on the parish boundaries, again.

His best year was prob with NYC, no forward thrived under Mcloughlin, so I wouldnā€™t have him top 3. to be honest ive seen so little football lately i couldnā€™t pick a top 3.

Trying to determine a top 3 for the past few years would seem like one of the most pointless exercises of all time

Agree Mac I dont want to think about the last few years for the footballers, itā€™s been really poor.

It is. I was even trying to think of a top 3 and was hard pressed to do so. Although a player not making a starting team I think is easy enough to strike off that list. Particularly when in 2018 John Tubritt and Donal Shanley were the stand out forwards and couldnt make the team this year.

Galvin could have brought these lads along for the training panel at least and dropped them as the year went on if they werenā€™t offering anything.
Heā€™s not what I call management material though so Iā€™m not surprised

Sure lookit, weā€™ll be the best dressed team in Division 4

The modelā€™s county

The main issue is over the midfielder he dropped. The most experienced and one of our better players for the last few years. He then dropped the former captain Furlong who queried why Galvin dropped Waters. And his house mates quit in solidarity. So there really was only one player dropped due to perceived playing ability, one dropped for questioning him and 2 left of their own accord. the keeper was apparently told that Galvin didnt want another left footed keeper, even though the third choice one at the moment is left footed. There was no need to drop Waters, if nothing else, heā€™d have pushed other lads on in training.

Yep, seems like a poor initial judgement on Galvinā€™s part in dropping Waters and he then exacerbated that by making an example of Furlong. A solid, sound, reliable, gentlemanly type and he treated him badly. Things escalated from there then. Of course, some outsiders might see Wexford as general losers (which we are) and Galvin as an uncompromising winner (which he is), and have a bit of 2+2=5. This isnā€™t about Wexford players not meeting Galvinā€™s exacting standards, itā€™s more about Galvin being unreasonable.

Did Liam Cahill not do the same in Waterford?

Davy taught them to sing as well
