Wexford GAA 2020

Wexford 10-13 Wicklow. FT.

Wicklow were excellent in fairness to them, especially in the second half.

Wicklow will be hard bate this year.

Disappointing
Wicklow deserved it, in fairness.
Great chance to get promoted missed

Disappointing display, no urgency until the last 5 minutes, way too much lateral and backward play

Wicklow deserved that. They were much better in the second half. We were poor, kicked some really bad wides and had enough chances to win despite all that. The subs added nothing, Nick Doyle lost all balls around the middle fumbling but did well inside with a couple of catches. Bealin gave away every touch he had and missed a shot from 20 out too. Some really sloppy handling, even allowing for the poor conditions. Considering the year, it hasnā€™t been too bad, but we had a great chance to go up and didnā€™

Yeah, seems he didnā€™t even do any basic research on the players either. Didnā€™t mention any facts, figures, family links or anything else. Also made that regular crap commentator error of calling a given player by his opposition counterpartā€™s name, i.e. looking at the wrong team list in front of him. Just chatted about the picture in front of him without any more chat. He also spent the last five minutes of the first half going on about the significant injury time being played having thought it was 30 minutes per half.

An All-Ireland U20 winning manager in charge and a group of minors coming through who beat Dublin 2 years ago. Wicklow could be the coming force in Leinster football!

Shem Fitzhenry with an analogy on the wireless that Wexford staying in division 4 is akin to a fella playing squash and not getting to play against the better quality opponents who bring him on in leaps and bounds.

It would be nice to see that if Wicklow did become a football force. Plenty of motivation for our lads next weekend. But todays game was more important.

Wicklow were good but theyā€™ll self implode when things look positive. The east and west will clash at some point over something and things will revert to normal

Yeah would agree a win would have been preferred choice (if given a choice)

Seanie Furlong still a focal point for Wicklow in attack. Must be about 35 at this stage?
Edit: 33 according to google

who were the standout players for Wicklow?

Dean Healy was good at wing-forward. Jackson accurate enough from frees.

in fairness heā€™s usually good, horse of a manā€¦

#12 Hayden was very good playing deep. Think he was a sweeper type rather than marking back there. Donnelly the centre back was very composed and good at bringing the ball out defence and launching attacks. Wing back Finn went forward to score two points against the wind in second half. The midfielder Healy had a powerful second half too. Kenny at centre forward is very comfortable on the ball, decent playmaker. Furlong still a dangerous target man and Byrne in the corner is fast and direct. Keeper also kicked 3 long range frees from 4. Seemed to be very well drilled and committed to the game plan - reflected well on the manager.
