I know we won in Ennis last year too but by and large Wexford have had an awful record against Clare over the last 20 years. Particularly in championship. 2014 the only real exception in qualifier meetings.
He has indeed. Excellent again and really nailing down a spot.
On an opposite scale, I think McGuckin has had a lot of game time starting I think the last 4 games but he hasnāt shown any reason to be still a starter. His time will absolutely come and its great to give a young lad so much game time, but Iād rather now have some others being given more time for that half forward position.
We outnumbered them in the main stand.
I canāt wait to see how Davey will take credit for this on RTE later
That brilliantly worked second goal will no doubt be borne out of something they had done during his reign in training. A very positive start by Darragh Egan. A victory against Galway and I think we have a serious shot at a place in the league final.
Lohan is a lunatic, outside the dressing room at half time under the stand eaten his selectors. Supporters going up the stairs could hear him word for word!
Aidan Nolan is out for the year a Bunclody native informs me. Egan said on radio that Shaun Murphy going for operation on his back.
Did the Ennis tourist board throw you a few quid on the way home?
Vindication for Davy!
I know.
Fuck them.
All joking aside we need to beat them in the championship.
I think thatās probably a fair call on McGuckin alright but I guess his role is a selfless one - working up and down, making tackles, being a support option and a link player. I think playing without the sweeper means our wing forwards will have to do a lot of grunt work and it could be hard to stand out. He got through a lot of work but made some mistakes and gave away a few frees. Who else is worth looking at for a game or two? Not just in that role but elsewhere too.
On a general point - even though the average intercounty career seems to be getting shorter, the strength and conditioning of the top tier counties is so high that it must be hard for very young players to make an immediate impact. Kind of a catch 22? You need to get an infusion of youth as you donāt want a team becoming collectively stale/too old, but it might take some/all a while to find their feet. An astute judge like @peddlerscross has been lamenting the lack of young players really standing out across the board.
I was looking at the two Clare corner forwards yesterday and both are meant to be excellent prospects, but they were getting shunted off the ball. Limerick have high hopes for Cathal OāNeill and Saturday night was a big step for him after a couple of quiet displays. He seems to have the physique to mix it. On the other hand, the other young prospect English came on and had a couple of novicey wides when he should have been trying to work a goal. Just a few examples from the two intercounty games I watched over the weekend.
In tight squad calls, Egan seems to have gone for the 18-21 year old options instead of the likes of Harry Kehoe.
The highlights last night painted McGuckin in a very positive light as he set up 2-3 scores. I didnāt pay enough attention to the live game to see the mistakes he made though. If Egan is persisting with him then maybe he has a deeper plan of some sorts for him as heās been quick enough to drop other lads like Dunbar and Byrne
You must send me on the name of your optician.

the arrow hath missed its mark so.
he fucking is, dont mind him at all. Tries to pretend he isnt.
as a small aside, any reports of the Leinster final from Saturday were far more glowing of a player who still has 2 years of eligibility for schools senior hurling than I even had!
