Are you sure youâre not from Limerick?
Doc OâConnor woke up this mornign and put a picture of Joe Canning on the wall to amke him angry every morning for the next seven months.
Heâs coming for you Joe.
Be afraid, very afraid.
Isnât Doc a CHF these daysâŚ
Thatâs so 2008, he was corner back in 2009.:guns:
Did Wexford play hurling in 09?
Yes, albeit only in patches.
At Boolavogue as the sun was setting,
O`er the bright may meadows of Shelmalier,
A rebel hand set the heather blazing,
and brought the neighbours from far and near;
Then Father Murphy from old Kilcormack
Spurred up the rock with a warning cry:
âArm! Arm!â he cried, âFor Ive come to lead you, for Ireland
s freedom we`ll fight or die!â
He lead us on against the coming soldiers,
And the cowardly Yeomen we put to flight,
Twas at the Harrow the boys of Wexford Showed Bookey
s regiment how men could fight;
Look out for hirelings, King George of England,
Search every kingdom where breathes a slave,
For Father Murphy of County Wexford,
Sweeps o`er the land like a mighty wave.
We took Camolin and Enniscorthy,
And Wexford storming drove out our foes,
`Twas at Slieve Coilte our pikes were reeking
With the crimson blood of the beaten Yeos.
At Tubberneering and Ballyellis,
Full many a Hessian lay in his gore,
Ah! Father Murphy had aid come over,
The Green Flag floated from shore to shore!
At Vinegar Hill, O`er the pleasant Slaney,
Our heroes vainly stood back to back,
and the Yeos at Tullow took Father Murphy,
and burnt his body upon a rack.
God grant you glory, brave Father Murphy,
And open Heaven to all your men,
the cause that called you may call tomorrow,
in another fight for the Green again.
Wexford hurling manager Colm Bonnar is hopeful of a clean bill of health as his side face the daunting challenge of Galway in the Leinster SHC quarter-final.
Bonnar is aware that Galway will be favourites to progress, but is confident his side will be up for the challenge, while hoping for better luck on the injury front.
He told The Examiner: 'I suppose once the draw was made people would have been looking at the fact that Kilkenny and Galway were drawn on opposite sides.
'They would be the two form teams from a neutralâs point of view.
'Thereâs nothing we can about that. Having said that, I wouldnât say either of them would be taking anything for granted. Hopefully we will be able to give it a good go in Leinster next year but it will be difficult.
'It will be John McIntyreâs second season in charge of Galway and he will have them in tip-top shape. They showed how dangerous they were this year against Kilkenny in Leinster.
âWe will be hoping that we donât suffer from the same sort of injuries that we did this time and weâll be well up for it.â
The winners of Wexford against Galway will face Antrim or Offaly in the semi-finals with Kilkenny given a bye into the other semi.
Ah Lovely-we got the chokers
Galway have never beaten us in the 125 years of GAA championship history
Wexford have to go in as favourites
We are at home, I can confirm.
From semi-final on, they get neutral venues but not for quarters or before. As you may recall, they played Laois in Portlaois(e) last season.
Thanks to Michael Delaney in the Leinster Council for taking my call on the matter.
In short, weâre going to fucking destroy these bastards in tropical Wexford.
