Anyone remember national school when the heating packed in (possibly due to no oil) and the missus would have ye doing laps inside in the classroom to get warm, even though you didn’t feel cold, but enjoyed the novelty of that, and being allowed to wear your coat in class?

We had one hero who felt especially cold and borrowed a few extra coats, gloves, hats and scarves off the other lads. Much to the chagrin of the missus, as you called her, and the amusement of his fellows.

One lad fell over and split his head when he tripped doing laps. She sent him to the headmaster and he was terrified he’d get the wooden spoon for having the temerity to fall over (that was generally the only reason you’d be sent)

Whatever your views on his policies, he is evidently not a terrible politician. How many times has he been elected, he’s led his party to government, he’s extracted really strong commitments on the issues of importance to him, he’s a government minister. He’s clearly a pretty good politician.

For the entirety of my schooling the department of education here provided catholic children with half of what protestant children received. Many of the classrooms were heated with one or two superser gas heaters- these has to be protected and fought for- raids and rescue missions were commonplace, one student was seriously injured when a kid valiantly hurled a superser out of a third story window, rather than surrender it to a raiding party feom another class. In hindsight it was a bit foolish since we didn’t have gas cannisters to put in them, but at least we had our pride.

It’s worse he’s getting. He wrote a big long article
(edit: about Daniel O’Connell, post just about made sense without it but that was a key point) a while back and finished it “all lives matter”. An utter cunt.
