Can we get into a cartographic argument as to where the Shannon river ends and the canal begins, or indeed where the Abbey River begins and ends.

I would argue, that at least when the tide is in, the Locke is shannonside.

I was just repeating what was stated in the article.

They could have made a lovely little water-front area down on Steamboat Quay by shutting it off to traffic and making it all pedestrian with water side bars and restaurants, but of course they had to have cager access to the car-park.

They should have just written ā€œLimerick is in a constant state.ā€

The medieval quarter in the north of the city. Sounds like a metropolis! Is it even safe to walk the medieval quarter? ā€œA labyrinth of lanesā€ etc. Jaysusā€¦
Itā€™s a good town if you want to go for pints for a few days for sure.

Sarsfield House looking splendid in the picture there.

Why do you hate Limerick mate?

No trip to Limerick is complete without a visit to Sarsfield House.

The thing I would hold against the council more than anything else is that that building is still standing. Itā€™s an absolute disgrace.

Weā€™d great plans in 2014

I donā€™t care whether they demolish it or retrofit it or whatever; just so it doesnā€™t look like absolute shit.

I think itā€™s a protected building of some sort

The Parisian tourist board firmly on the back foot now

The sick, sick fuck who protected that building should also be executed.

I mean, what the fuck would be going through your head?

How is it protected?

Itā€™s one piece of shit. Every-time I walk past it on my way for a locke burger I think ā€œthanks be to fuck I donā€™t work in thereā€. Itā€™s like an old Soviet building.

Itā€™s not. I was getting confusedā€¦ i thought it was because of the architect but Iā€™m mixing it up with elsewhere

FFS are you from Limerick at all?

They tried to save the Cahill May Roberts building on Bank Place cause of the architect, but it was knocked too.

I am going to be a complete contrarian now. I actually donā€™t think itā€™s that bad. These glass towers are much duller.

Now it badly needs a refurb, I suppose thereā€™s no one will pay for a refurb and they waiting to knock it down, so itā€™s a vicious circle.

A good architect, with a few subtle additions here and there to give it a bit more pizzazz, a lick of paint and an overhaul into a ground floor bar/restaurant and apartments above.

Apartments would be a spectacular place to live if done right.

For many reasons
