WORLD PROFESSIONAL DARTS CHAMPIONSHIPS 2020 - O2 ARENA, LONDON

2-2 in this set now

Unbelievable fighting qualities from the Dorset legend

It’s Wayne’s World championship semi-final!

He finishes tops after Scotty had missed one dart at double 16 to save the match!

And is he happy, clenching his hands high above him like Brian Keenan when he was released!

And now the kids, or is it the grandkids, are on stage!

Scotty reacting in the dignified manner you’d expect

Great scenes all round and what a day for Welsh darts

It could get even better

When I said this day could get even better for Welsh darts, here’s one of the reasons why

14 year Leighton “Boom Boom” Bennett, who we saw in the senior ranks against Scotty Dog earlier this week, is in the World Youth final, which has just started

In his way stands our very own Keane Barry of County Meath, Ireland

And Keane has taken the first leg

Correction:

Leighton is English

I hereby resign from the thread

John Gwynne talking about Navan racecourse here

Keane leading 2-1 in legs, 1st set

John now telling us that Keane is a big Liverpool fan

What a lovely young man he is

And he has taken the first set 3-1

He has a lovely way of planting his darts in the board, almost horizontal

Reminds me of 1990 and 1992 World Champion Phil “the Crafty Potter” Taylor

Phil Taylor is one of Keane’s favourite players

Keane must be a very keen historian of the game, given that Taylor’s heyday was almost 30 years ago

Great to see such knowledge in the youngsters

John says he wants to live to 120 and see both these youngsters win world titles galore

Tony O’Shea corrects him - “I don’t think you’ll have to live that long to see it, John”

Tremendous banter between the two Mancunians

Keane averaging over 93

This really is tremendous fare

Key darts there in the deciding leg of set 2

Keane misses double 10

But Leighton can’t punish and he misses three doubles

Keane steps back in, goes outside double 10 twice, and then boom, last dart, finishes it

The Meath youngster is 2-0 up in sets in this race to 3

Is a world darts title about to come to Ireland?

Ireland’s Keane Barry is the World Youth Champion!

He beats Leighton Bennett 3 sets to 0!

Ole Ole Ole!

Some talent

Unreal

He’s a proper gunslinger, he fires in the darts at furious pace, as does young Bennett

90.54 average for our champion

What a feast of darts this is - the two men’s semi-finals, and the youth and ladies’ finals

Super Saturday indeed

Jim wins a very tough, old style, attritional matchplay semi-final over Belgium’s Mario Vandenbogaerde 6-4

He has to be Delilah with that

Mikuru Suzuki has the best walk on in darts
