Back in the 90s and early 2000’s the US women’s soccer team were the best women’s soccer team in the world by a mile. Winning World Cups and Olympics all round them and hammering other women’s teams in the progress. They played a few practice matches against the US men’s u-17 team, but stopped after a couple of matches as they would get absolutely hammered and it was deemed to not be beneficial either side. This was the best Women’s team in the world, playing American (not Brazilan, Argie etc) young fellas.
I’ve only had this on for the last 15 minutes or so but Dublin look the less shit team by a considerable distance and really should be winning by more.
Good score there finally by Sinead Aherne but two more bad misses to follow at the end of the half.
Dublin significantly more up for the game and dying on the ball alot more.
Still only 1 up.
Cork needed HT to come. They seem to be missing leaders. I really think they are missing the comfort of having Eamon Ryan on the sideline. Where is your one gone that played no. 7 for years @caoimhaoin? She was a real steadying influence for Cork when the chips were down. She’s captained them in the past and also won a POTY I think.
Conditions are bad ? Listening to it here on the radio. Can’t stomach turning on GAAGO for this.
Deirdre o’ Reilly i would imagine. A sub i think.
Briege really has hit a wall this year. The dual thing may finally have caught up.
How much did that eejit daithi o shea get for being there at HT and announcing in his twee little way that the attendance is 34, 241? I suppose he got a grand for that.
At the very least. He’s only laughing at them
Geraldine O’Flynn I was thinking of. Is she retired? Big loss.
It’s hard to know whether a massed defence makes a bigger difference in women’s football or men’s football.
Defenders are far easier to run past in women’s football but the players can’t kick scores to beat it if they try that. It’s like boys’ juvenile football in that regard.
Deary me. That was easy.
Ya thats who i meant as well. DOR is playing already
It would improve the mens game to let them pick the ball off the ground
Brilliant game now
Dublin won’t be beaten today. Huge hunger.
Number 7 for Dublin did well there.
Cork were clearly conserving energy. Turning over ridiculous ball though. You win nothing turning over loads of cheap ball.
Dublins tracking and work rate is superb
Dublin’s problem here is that their defence will open like the Red Sea the next time Cork attack whereas Dublin won’t score a goal.
If Dublin could kick pass the ball ( game is called football ) they’d totally screw Corks reliance on masse defending. Hand passing is twice as horrible to look at in this farce of a sport than Men’s IC football.
There’s a rather obvious biological reason why none of these long balls are being gathered by the target player.
