That dolled up gimp ref did everything to keep Mayo in it He pulled same player later for overcarrying as she hopped the ball and kicked a score.
I can’t get my head around this. On one hand we all want equality. On the other hand, if this happened to a 14 year old boy he would get nothing. It’s a farce!
When we were in primary school Alex Kelly who had just come back from England lost an eye because Owen Roche swung past his head with an untaped hurley with a bit of metal jutting out. I’m pretty sure if Alex sued he would have got a pay out. The metal bands on hurleys are dangerous and players need to be warned to have them in order.

I had an awful cut on my leg from a loose band ( we call it a splice) when I was about 14, tje scar is still visible
I’d expect metal bands to be banned from hurleys before too long. They’d be no loss, even if I always found hurleys without metal bands to be a bit weird looking. Then again, I find it weird how some people play with hurleys with no tape above the boss. Maybe everybody finds everybody’s else hurleys a bit weird, as tailoring a hurley is such an individual thing.
