Shocking scenes as Laois Ladies club football match abandoned following mass brawl
One player ended up in hospital with a suspected broken nose while several others received minor injuries after a Ladies club football championship match was abandoned following a mass brawl last night.
St Paul’s travelled to Graiguecullen last night for the first round of the Ladies Intermediate football championship.
The home side were ahead around ten minutes into the second half when a dispute broke out of whether or not a point for St Paul’s should stand.
The referee initially gave the point but the umpire behind the goal waved it wide.
Tempers flared on the sideline and when they boiled over, it spread out onto the field with players, mentors and supporters all involved.
When the melee finally ended, the referee abandoned the game and one player is understood to have gone to hospital with a suspected broken nose.
A spectator who was at the game but wished to remain anonymous, described the events as ‘shocking’.
They said: “It was the most shocking thing I have ever witnessed at a games of Ladies football.
“Players, managers and supporters from both sides were all fighting on the pitch. It really was terrible to see and that type of behaviour has no place anywhere – let alone on a football field.”
A Laois LGFA official confirmed they were aware of the incident but said they did not wish to comment as they are awaiting the referee’s report.
St Paul’s, who are based in Emo, claimed the Junior football championship last year by defeating Ballyfin in the decider.
While Graiguecullen reached the intermediate final last season where they were beaten by Shanahoe.
Someone must have video of this, I’ll keep you posted.
I’m shocked there was someone at it. Have they nothing better to do?
Friends and family perhaps?
Try your contacts in the local perverts maybe?
TBF a Limerick man can’t be throwing stones about perverts…
On today.
I’m refereeing again tonight.
Has Cusack the character reference all set and ready to go?

A super story this. Jocko women go from 3-0 up to 3-3 in last World Cup group game to get eliminated. Manager goes on lash with staff the next day, comes back to hotel pissed, calls squad meeting and lambasts the players, making them cry.
Jockos.
Has she got a rack like Jo swinson is the main question here.
