You'd want your head examined or have daughters like Hopper McGrath, to manage a Ladies team thread

Be that as it may just give the girls a bit of credit .

It was an absolutely lovely through ball all the same.

That is lovely. If the girl in yellow had gone to play the ball she would have got it (the ball).

The goals are fantastic

Gutless goalkeeping and a centre half dawdling on the ball losing it and then rugby tackling the norn iron player allowing her teammate to roll it home

Hutton, Nelson and Lafferty to the fore there.

To think we missed out on that play off after losing 1-0 in Ukraine when our keeper stood flat footed and let a slightly overhit back pass roll into the net.

We should have been facing the north in play offs for both the men’s and women’s Euros.

Both goals were well taken.

The red card.

Thank God we were spared that national humiliation

Genuine question here to anyone, possibly @Midshipman_Asha or anyone involved in ladies sport, and I am not trying to make any point, just wondering.
Would it be normal practice for ladies to wear makeup to play a match?
Some of the international rubby team seem to, though I’d never noticed it before.
It’d be the absolute last thing in my head before a game, making sure my hair was gelled or whatever. It never occurred to me anyone would be interested in their appearance during an actual match.
I know many EPL footballers are vain, but I’d always thought that was in general.
Would makeup and sweat not be a bad mix?

Welsh rugby team?

there is an aussie rules show on a Sunday evening, kind of MOTD2 type more relaxed feel to it. Anyway, they have a female AFL player on the show with them who used to play netball. They showed a picture of the Aussie netball team she was on and they all with their fake tans, but she was particularly orange in it and they were joshing with her over the amount of make up. And her response was just look good, feel good, play good. Its probably harder for us to comprehend as we dont wear make up, but how many times do you see young lads on the field and you’d call a player a shaper or something because he has the white ankle socks or the boots coloured out or whatever it is to look cooler or better. Ronaldo and his hair and all that. Some people just prefer to present themselves looking at their best. And that may happen on the field too.

I only just noticed it there in the photo on the rte report tbh.
I’d always be too anxious of letting anyone down than be worrying how I looked, but I was talking to a soccer pro wan time who says he never gets nervous before a game (cc @anon67715551).
I could play 2000 games and I’d still be worried about letting people down.

For the love of Jesus

What?
Have you ever put suncream on and cycled hard? You can’t see as it runs into your eyes with the sweat.
I’d have never noticed it before, I’d never have thought a person would wear makeup to play a game where it would run into your eyes.

I’d say every athlete that knows there’s a remote chance they’ll be on TV puts a lot of effort into their appearance

I’d doubt this very much tbh.

@briantinnion - I’ll leave it to you to quote the great man

Although my playing days are over and things were slightly different then, I agree with Gman’s take below and I find that if a player wears make up daily anyway, they will wear make up playing. Almost all the youngsters wear fake tan now, for training or matches
