Ah here. The wedding scene in the Deerhunter is drawn out so much you’d forget what the start of the film was about watching it.

Saw Dog Day Afternoon recently for the first time in years. Absolute Tour De France from Pacino in it.

Many years ago RTÉ were showing the Gerry Cooney/Larry Holmes fight in the middle of the night at the height of summer. They were showing the Deer Hunter beforehand. It was an attractive package and I resolved to stay up and watch it all. About an hour and a half in the continuity announcer cut in to say that there had been an outage con the Three Rock transmitter (ie a load of South Dublin cunts had missed a bit of the film). So they were going to start the film again. I drifted off and I woke up to the sound of the bell ringing as Gerry Cooneys trainer jumped into the ring to protect him from further punishment.

RTE had the sh1t cut out of it anyway. Still though that Russian roulette scene scared the life out of me. I was only a chappie at the time.

Go on and watch ‘Crimes and Misdemeanors’ for me mike. It might be the finest movie ever made I think you’ll marvel at the depth, grasp the profundity and appreciate the dirty jokes and sex scenes.

I thought the deer hunter was nothing special. Too long, went from gritty reality to scenes in Vietnam that were cartoonist.
