What is yours
Poppycock.
Your list should change regularly. Today I’m in a electronic music mood, tomorrow it will be rock…only a closed mind has a pre ordained go to list.
I like to mix it up with a bit of rap from time to time, hearing black fellas call bitches nigga over and over really drives me over the pain threshold.
I’ll head out shortly with Hans Zimmer
In my new mode of actually listening to a bit of music while running, I did set up a playlist a few weeks ago. Uptempo indie/ alt hits primarily

Future Islands - Ran
The Replacements - Alex Chilton
Fugazi - Waiting Room
Husker Du - Don’t Want to Know if You Are Lonely
Television - Marquee Moon
The Modern Lovers - Roadrunner
Gang of Four - Damaged Goods
Wire - Three Girl Rumba
Flaming Lips - Race For The Price
Joy Division - Transmission
The Fall - Mr Pharmacist
Stereolab - French Disko

Buzzcocks - Ever Fallen in Love…
The try hardness will be off the scale here…
Metal. Then heavier metal when you struggle.
Christ, your star has fallen so fucking low.
fire up your des oconnor penny farthing list then
Podcast for the longer slower runs with The Saw Doctors for the last few Kms home.
Dropkick Murphys and The Pogues for the faster more upbeat runs.
That’s some good shit there.
Nothing beats RATM.
Sure it’s basic enough indie and alt hits but they work well when you’re out on a run. There’s a few there that would get you too pumped up!
I f do not think it matters a bit to be honest.
I could listen to metal or country or a book about science and it doesn’t affect my running
I brought it on a longish road/trail run I was doing a week or two ago. I’ve never once listened to music on trails but as I was going on fairly wide mountain paths and forestry roads I said I’d give it a rattle. Part of the route was going to be monotonous so I wanted to have the bit of music. Race For the Prize came on as I hit the one tricky enough descent through a bit of forestry and I just went off like a bullet.
I was out for an easy paced road run with a small urban trail yesterday morning and listened to Robbie Fowler interviewed by Jamie Carragher, and that actually worked well.
There’s a great show on sky arts called ‘The great songwriters’
Artists talk about their songs and career and perform a few in the studio, I saw the flaming lips on it last week, really good
Saw the Carly Simon one as well
A bit of Megaton Leviathan is great to get the heart rate going.
