2010/2011 English Premier League Discussion Thread

Rooney has been subbed on the hour mark for Macheda :o

Martin Petrov, once a blue, always a blue

one or two nice touches aside he looked no real threat…Bolton 2-1 up now, United defence looks all over the shop at present…

Ankle heavily iced there, but yea, was no more than average. Berbatov not up to much there today either, this United team is fucked.

Paul Robinson is two ends of a cunt.

Vidic made complete shite of there by Elmander. This game should be done and dusted by now. Owen will probably save Utd.

EDIT FFS…

Robinson is a scut alright…Evans nearly gifts Bolton a third there, he has looked like a liability today…

2-2, Michael Owen with a glancing header, call him up Capello B)

Quite frustrating to let Chelsea off the hook like that. Evans isn’t good enough, that’s becoming clearer with every game. Vidic isn’t the player he was either. Unless Rio can find some kind of a miracle cure to allow him to play the vast majority of the rest of the season, I think it’s fair to say we’re winning nothing this year.

Happy enough United escaped with a point there. Elmander wasted a couple of chances to put Bolton 2 ahead at 1.0 and 2.1. Evans and Vidic played terrible today. Didnt look comfortable with the physical threat of Elmander and Davies.

The EPL seems to be very poor quality wise this season so far (based on my admittedly limited viewings). Maybe a slight hangover from the summer football but still it has been very bad in the games I have seen. So many teams just hoof it - the likes of Pulis and Allardyce have had relative success keeping their teams in the EPL and it seems now to be the approach of a lot of teams, long throw ins, set pieces etc. Giving away the ball repeatedly is no way to get consistent results though so I think that might explain everyone beating one another. Two players have impressed me in the few games I’ve watched - Mark Noble at West Ham has the balls to get on the ball and not give it away. he plays with his head up and isnt afraid to get stuck in either. Not the most athletic player in the world but is one for better teams to consider. The other one is the Korean Lee at Bolton. He had a really good game against Villa and is a very clever player.

I’d generally be reluctant to write off United but this season I will. Ferdinand, Hargreaves and Owen wont stay fit but thats an England 2004 vintage anyway. They seem particularly poor in midfield. A lot of people are gushing praise on Paul Scholes - he is still tidy on the ball against sides that will give him space but he is a complete passenger without the ball now. Valencia’s injury robs them of quality out wide. Rooney will probably come good but is shocking at the moment. Vidic seems in decline too. I’m not sure why Fergie doesnt chance O’Shea centrally, a great cross for Berbatov aside he is usually pretty shit in that position. Neville is woeful altogether now aswell.

I didnt think it was that special a Chelsea side that won the league last year, they have Essien back alright but its still an aging side few inuries and they will be in trouble too. I threw a speculative twenty on Man City to win the league before the Chelsea game at 20/1. They will probably be happy with top 4 but I think they should show some ambition and really push for it. Kompany, Hart, Tevez, De Jong, Toure, Silva, Johnson - some cracking players there. Arsenal - same old shite, injuries, hammer Porto lose to West Brom, time for Wenger to make a push or step aside methinks. Liverpool are in for an awful season, Everton very bad start but could still improve. Jagielka and Distin were diabolical against United and Tony Hibbert is a championship player at best. Spurs were woeful at the weekend, a tactical mess and gutless at centre half. As for the Villa, we have probably the worst central midfield pairing in the league - Petrov and Reo Coker. Petrov is totally finished, Reo Coker isnt a footballer. We might well have the best centre half pairing though. Still it will be a struggle.

you’re only noticing this now? I thought you knew all about the Premier league.

I’m going to call this one early.

Wigan, Wolves and Blackpool to go down. Holly to be out of a job by Christmas.

Wayne Routledge being linked with a january move to Liverpool

Mac, you seem to be watching Wolves V Wigan for some reason, what did Henry get a straight red for???

Figeuroa off with clean sheet in the bag. Marvellous stuff.

Pity it was 15 seconds short of the 60 minutes though… Nevertheless 5 points is a nice return

BBC: “A burst pipe above the Manchester United dressing room has caused the ceiling to collapse”. Kick off delayed by 20 minutes.

Ah this has to be a joke? Comedy gold, he has been pure muck everytime he stepped up the level to the EPL.

On another note delighted that dirty fuck Henry was sent off for Wolves today, he has been striding around the place like a hard man this season when in reality he is only a dirty player.

Clint Dempsey has made Rob Green his bitch again today.

Serious dirty tackle on one of the Wigan lads. Ball was well gone and lunged and sent your man nearly upside down.

Good point for United when you remember they had a very tough game away in Europe on Wednesday night. Sunderland should have battered United but didnt take their chances.
