2011 Rugby World Cup

I didn’t see as much of Strettle last season but he still looked dangerous and I’d have thought they’d have room for him in their squad somewhere.

It was a poor bunch of players really though overall relative to the WC. England are not really going to be much of a threat.

Presume Kidney will go for a 17-13 split with an extra prop brought. Is Buckley still out of favour, he will surely still be brought as a possible impact sub with Court, Ross, Healy and probably Hayes as well

Irish team v Scotland

Kearney
Trimble
McFadden
Wallace
Fitzgerald
Sexton
T O’Leary
Court
Cronin
Buckley
Ryan
Cullen
McCarthy
Ronan
Leamy

Reps-
Flannery
Horan
Hayes
Mick O’Driscoll
McLaughlin
Boss
Jones

Looks like there’s another back missing from the subs bench?

Thats the lot Mac.

I hadnt been paying much attention but I hadnt figured Kearney close to recovery for some reason. I would have thrown Flannery in to be fucked.

The Ireland team to play Scotland in their first Rugby World Cup warm-up match on Saturday has been named. Leinster lock Leo Cullen will captain his country for the first time at Test level.

Leo Cullen will lead an Ireland side that contains two uncapped players in the 22-man matchday squad.
Connacht’s Mike McCarthy starts the game at blindside flanker in his first Test match appearance, while the other uncapped player, Felix Jones from Munster, has been named amongst the replacements.
Rob Kearney returns at full-back for the first time since last November’s GUINNESS Series, having recovered from a knee injury.
Fergus McFadden and Paddy Wallace will form a new-look centre partnership, with Andrew Trimble and Luke Fitzgerald named on the wings.
Tom Court, Sean Cronin and Tony Buckley will pack down in the front row, and Cullen is joined in the engime room by Donnacha Ryan.
New cap McCarthy will have plenty of experience alongside him in the back row - the 50-times capped Denis Leamy starts at number 8 and Niall Ronan will line out at openside flanker.

Thought the new rules that came in last season or the one before meant that you had to have 8 subs, to accommodate 2 props. I like the look of our youthful front row options on the bench. Laughable to see Kidney still trying to make a No. 8 out of Leamy.

Anyone know if this is on RTÉ?

It is on both Aunty and RTE mbb.

That rule isn’t there in all competitions sadly.

Pretty weak back row we have out.

Pretty weak pack in general.

mbb’s double standards coming to the fore again.Shite enough looking team though.

Ah lovely. Cheers Lar.

Cant say I’ve been all that impressed with the likes of McCarthy or Ryan to be honest. It’ll be interesting to see how Scotland come out for this one given the way they’ve been wrapped in cotton wool since the 6N.

Care to flesh that out a bit there mate?

Flesh it out in what way? You have one standard for some sportsmen and another for others. its quite simple, and very plain and obvious.

I naturally assume you’ll provide examples to back up this baseless claim?

Lads, any chance you can keep this crap to one thread? The Cork GAA one should be inactive enough for the rest of 2011 so that might be a good place.

Hard not to defend oneself from such baseless accusations Mac. One cannot stand idly by. This is the internet you know. I asked the thread starter and he was fine with me attempting to clear my good name here. Cheers.

By the way, I think you’ll find I was talking rugby.

We’re only getting started on that thread, the club championships of Ireland greatest GAA county get into full swing tomorrow night.

Which reminds me.

MBB - Does it ever occur to you that your username is woefully out of date. How’s Brendan by the way? This site is full of your contradictions, just put your own name into a search and i’m sure you’ll find many.

I think you’ll have to flesh all of that out for us there mate.

Didnt think you could alright. Climbdown/apology accepted. You’re growing a lot today mate.

Kev has MBB by the balls here
