I see that Liverpool are now being linked with Charlie Adam and Stewart Downing as the next targets. I don’t want either of them to be honest.
Downing is an example of a player than is rated as he is English and is left sided. I’d say you could pick up a much better player on the continent as him for the same price.
I think you’re probably right here. I like Adam as a player but don’t think he can play in a flat four man midfield. I’m thinking Kenny may play with the system a bit and Adam is the type of player that, one, only really fits the 4-2-3-1, and two, needs to be playing week in, week out. So for that reason I’m out.
Downing had a load of gash seasons and one good one. Not good enough.
I think you’re wrong on Henderson though. I wouldn’t consider him a Xabi Alonso type. It looks more to me like Kenny has thought, 10m to bring in 30 year old Parker or 13m (plus Ngog who is useless) to bring in 20 year old Henderson. It actually looks like decent business to me but he’ll need to be nurtured and isn’t the instant answer that Parker would provide. Still though, I like that we are building towards the future.
Phil Jones may be having a medical with Liverpool today also but also rumoured to be talking to United. Only seen him a few times but think he’s a good player alright.

Is there that much of a gap in the potential of these players? I know there is a good bit but surely one is not worth 10 times the other?
