Yeah - forgot Amoo actually.
Sanchez was brilliant last season playing as a treq so I think he can play in a fluid attacking system. He’s top class. Rossi is also excellent so I think either of them would be capable of adapting to Barca’s style. Bojan was reportedly being offered as a makeweight in the Sanchez deal.
Juve are in for Vucinic, according to reports from Italy.
good article here for the the football anoraks to digest - http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blog/2011/jun/07/tactical-review-of-2010-11-season
couldnt be arsed looking for a suitable thread. didnt think tevez played the false nine as Wilson suggests. He played pretty far forward actually this season. Was interesting how Mancini played a ball winner like Yaya Toure further up the pitch actually, that seemed a real tactical innovation as Toure when he played well was used effectively to hold onto the ball ala the normal big man striker. Interesting that Kershakov who brilliantly played up top in Dublin played a deeper role for his club this season. Villa are crying out for such a player at the moment.
Still feel Rooney is capable of playing up top by himself as he did successfully the season before last.
Have you seen Suso, Sterling or Coady play? I’m all for giving the youth a chance but it looks like Kelly, Flanagan, Robinson and Spearing are all being promoted to the senior ranks. There’s a risk of going for too much - I’d be more inclined to try get them decent loan gigs.
The Henderson one is a pickle. I like him as a player but he’s not the right fit, not at the moment anyway. There are other areas that need investment far more than midfield.
I see Alan Smith has been released by Newcastle. A cert to sign for either Leeds or the huns now.
He’s not good enough for Leeds mate. The huns might suit him alright though.
More stories stating that Menez has agreed personal terms with Milan but the clubs have yet to talk about a fee.
The sooner we get a manager appointed the better so he can establish what players he wants to build the team around.
+1
Sky Sports reporting that tallks are ongoing on Henderson between Sunderland and Liverpool. David Ngog has been mooted as a makeweight in the deal.
Just thinking about this over lunch. Liverpool could revert to the old 4-2-3-1 formation of Benitez, with Henderson in the Alonso role, to which he seems suited.
------Lucas----Henderson-----
–Kuyt—Gerrard----Suarez
------------ Carroll -----------
There is cover in most positions there except probably the Suarez position, and the Lucas position.
The Udinese president has confirmed that Sanchez has agreed personal terms with Barcelona, however he has also stated that a fee has yet to be agreed.
Liverpool`s bid for Henderson accepted (unsurprisingly). Medical tomorrow.
GBP£13m + Ngog according to The Times. Both players still to agree personal terms also.
Is Ngog worth £7m? No chance.
Is he fuck!
Compromise must have been reached to bring Sunderland down from initial £20m valuation if that is indeed the exact final deal.
It also means Liverpool will need to get at least one more striker/forward in as well, unless they feel one of the young lads will provide sufficient cover. It was a huge failing last year having to play NGog in those earlier games when Torres was hurt. He just isn’t prolific enough.
I saw them linked with Wickham as well so he could replace Ngog.
The whole team at that time was a mess. Kenny displayed his intentions wiith regard to Ngog when he started Kuyt up top by himself when Torres was gone and Carroll still injured. That was always the best option.
I have seen a few goals Wickham scored in the Championship and, keeping in mind the level he was playing at, he looks a precocious talent.
