2011 Summer Transfer Window

Effing with an ‘e’ apparently

I’m not here to talk about Niall Quinn. I think Niall Quinn’s a creep.

Any rumours coming out of Arsenal, BT? Threaten to sign some experienced and talented players and then sign a French teenager and an African teenager on 29th August?

Who wrote it?

Nothing Badage. Offer for Jones was accepted but he wanted to stay in Lancashire instead of moving to London and hanging out in clubs and getting in fights with wideboys like Jack Wilshere and Henri Lansbury.

I stated already on this thread that I can’t see them spending over £30m and that includes signing on fees for new contracts, if Nasri signs a new one that will eat up a good chunk of this budget. Sale of Denilson and Bendtner will raise some funds so net spend will be even lower.

In fairness to them the only players they can get are the ones that Man Utd, Chelsea, Man City, Barcelona, Real Madrid and probably Liverpool don’t want so that doesn’t leave many options.

Anyway, Thomas Vermaelen will be back and he will be like a new signing.

I’ll tell you who wrote it, I can remember his name. Rod Liddle. He’s the guy who ran off and left his wife for a young one!

I didn’t say he left for a millionn quid, I said he had a clause in his contract that allowed him to leave for a million quid, now you get your facts straight.

How much of a paycut is Cesc taking to join Barca?

This suggests he won’t be joining.

In any case, I don’t know where he’d play.

More than likely in midfield.

Cesc won’t leave this summer. He’s under contract until 2014. He’ll go next summer as he’ll be down to the last two years of his contract and Arsenal won’t want to wait until be has one year left.

He’ll spend the first year there as a bit part player but will eventually take over Xavi’s role whose career won’t be as long as you’d expect due to the cruciate injury he picked up a few years ago.

That’s how I see it panning out anyway.

Man Utd have stepped up their interest in Samir Nasri according to Sky - whatever that means.

Liverpool have confirmed the signing of Jordan Henderson. They say it’s a GBP£16m deal but Sunderland claim it’s for GBP£19.25m. Ngog is in talks with Sunderland but it’s being negotiated separately for some reason.

Instead of who?

One of the first choice three when they’re unavailable or being rested. Not that difficult to work out. Idiot.

So you think they would pay all that cash for someone to essentially be twelfth man? That’s kind of what I was thinking was their thinking. But it seems daft to me.

What’s all this nonsense about twelfth man when it cones to Barca. They have had a first choice xi out of necessity more than design and their biggest failing in recent years has been their lack of cover throughout the team. I do wonder what it would mean for Mascherano though, would he play more at centre back maybe?

Liverpool are being linked with a GBP£5m bid for Gael Clichy on Twitter. ‘Clichy’ is trending.

Rare enough that the big English clubs deal directly with each other.

They’re hardly big clubs in fairness.

£5m doesn’t seem much but he’s been a liability at times and only has one year left on his cone-tract.

My second sentence was a separate point to the Clichy comment, BT.
