I’m not here to indulge in petty point scoring, but as a BDO man were you not alarmed at the shocking quality on display yesterday? I reckon it was the worst days play in the history of the tournament. The averages were appalling.
I didn’t catch the late action on ESPN but surely to fuck the BBC have to do something about that thud every time a dart hits the board, it sounds like they are throwing javelins ffs. The whole product is shoddy tbh.
You obsession with averages is bizarre. Obviously the fiery furnace of the Lakeside stage and the white hot atmosphere that comes with playing at The Home of Darts in the World Championships will cause players to twitch on the doubles. Of course with that comes the knock on adverse affect on averages but the scoring yesterday was tremendous from the likes of Silverback and Kong.
But it’s not about averages anyway - it’s about winning the most prestigious title in darts. You could put any PDC player on the Lakeside stage and their average would come down by 10 or 15 points. On the other hand a BDO man could go to ‘Ally Pally’ and free of the shackles of the Lakeside and given the freedom of playing in a venue and tournament with no history or prestige and I’d expect the averages to go up by 10 or 15 points.
Let’s not forget, also, that Martin ‘Wolfie’ Adams actually defeated Ady ‘Adrian’ Lewis in the unification match a few months ago to become the Undisputed Champion of all Darts (UCoaD).
It wasn’t a unification match, it was an exhibition game. The unification game had to be scrapped after the BDO champion Andy Fordham nearly dropped dead on the oche.
Is it true that PDC dartboards are easier to get a high score on than BDO ones? If so please elaborate.

Total Nonsense Larry. Never heard that one before. PDC use Unicorn, BDO winmau, I have both, the only difference is more bounce outs with the winmau dartboard.
Its said that the wires on the Unicorn boards used by the pdc are thinner and therefore its easier to get more darts in the treble but i dunno if its true,doubt it!
