2012 Olympics

Very cagey stuff for most of that first round with little boxing done but Nevin leads 5-2

5-2 in first. Didn’t see it that clearcut myself but we’ll take it

Nevin leads 10-5 after Round 2

10-5 now. He was much more impressive in that round

ALL OVER RED ROVER

Comfortable for Nevin. Picked his Kazakh opponent off very well.

Comfortable victory. The Kazak tried a few sneaky elbows & shoulders in last round but Nevin was on his toes.

15-10 the result.

Good stuff from Nevin, great win. Your man was decent. The scoring can be very strange at times. I thought the first round was very close and the second one a clear round for Nevin. Medal fight for him now.

Have we won a gold yet?

Yeah and third round was very strangely scored too imo.

I see the IOC has now kicked all the pairs involved in these matches out of the Tournament. Great stuff this. They said on the news that the president of the IOC was present at the events when this carry on was going on. Fucking idiots.

Nevin is likely to be facing a highly rated Tajikistani named Yusunov next. Yusunov and Nevin were both bronze medalists at the world amateurs last year. If Nevin wins that, he’s almost certainly going to be fighting a Cuban guy named Alvarez who won gold at that competition for a place in the final. GB’s Luke Campbell is likely to come through the other side and be the final opponent for whoever comes through Nevin’s side.

edit: Yusunov has just been beaten by his Mexican opponent. Nevin will be fighting Oscar Valdez for a medal on Sunday night.

Someone declaring themselves anti Olympics and then watching every minute of it when no one was giving them the attention they’re desperate for looks like the ultimate in waffling in my book

is that so Gola?

Where is sailing girl in the scores after today?

She finished 19th today, dont know what that does for overall standings? Was there someone messing with her boat over night?

Net of the worst performance - sailors are allowed to drop the worst one out of their 10 - Annalise still leads on 12; Belgium 14, Ned 19

If the results of all six races are included, Annalise is third on 31. Belgium 22, Ned 25, Irl 31, UK 34, China 36. Very tight at the top – Gavan Reilly (@gavreilly)

I hope today’s drop in performance doesn’t knock the wind out of her sails.
