2012 Six Nations

No mention of the Donncha Ryan incident though

Interesting that they chose to comment on the Ferris incident and confirmed the interpretation that it wasn’t a penalty (thereby making a mockery of a few commentators and our very own MBB*) and not the other incident. Rugby has a bigger refereeing problem with officials not seeing or bottling decisions than it does with simple errors, like that one from Barnes however poor it was. There should be no justification for Pearson being retained on an international panel after his recommendation the last day.

  • MBB will tell us he didn’t say it was a penalty, just that it was reckless, which of course is horseshit.

Kinda covering yourself there Rocko. Why is it horseshit? I consistently called it reckless. As you stated yourself.

Simple really.

Did the IRB Not just say it was a penalty in that piece?

Just like how rory Best wouldn’t play against Wales

It cant always be summer mate.

France 43
Ireland 10

Is the womens game over already?

Powers are offering 4/7 on Farrell to outscore Burton in the Italy v England game

Free money

The pitch in Rome looks more like a concrete slab it is so frozen

Because arguing that a tackle that’s fair is reckless because it might be wrongly interpreted as a dump tackle is nonsense. Ferris didn’t get to decide how the tackle would pan out - what is clear is that his hit was hard and fair. That’s what Ireland needed after retreating so alarmingly for the minute beforehand. Nearly every tackle he puts in would be reckless in your book.

No, they said his decision was understandable. They’re saying that on first viewing the decision looked correct to them so there’s no criticism of the referee but on repeat viewings they came to the conclusion that Ferris had not done anything wrong.

Have had a few quid on Italy at 3/1 and Italy +7 at evens.

Changes my mind and backed England -7, then I saw the state of the pitch and regretted it. Still expect England to win

Someone should tell George Hamilton or Ralph Keyes to stop breathing into the microphone so heavily.

7 kicks in a row there a few minutes ago. Sigh.

What a dire game this is. Italy well in with a shout and I think they are well capable of winning it.

Am hoping Pearson will feel he owes us several decisions tonights after his performances over past few weeks.

An awful mistake from Italy.

Easy as pie as Burton leaves the field with one less point that Farrell and half an hour to go

Hodgson with his second chargedown try in as many games. Still hope the Italians can get the win

I expect England to close it out comfortably from here and remain on course for a Grand Slam. The Italians don’t have the belief they can win, England always believe in themselves.

Italy showing awful naivety here. England’s game is much more disciplined and organised.
