the first 30 mins or so of italy / mexico was played in a rather cavilier athmosphere but in the end really the game took on the appearance as to what it really was and that was an end of season friendly for the Italians against a Mexican team who are playing their qualifiers in CONCACAF that is a pitiful standard of football. One could argue that Mexico need these games more than the Italians as facing off against the likes of Guyana is hardly ideal prep for them next year.
I think 6 of the Mexican team play domestically so they are probably still in the Clausura stage of their league, their players did look fresher than the Italians i thought but simply werent really good enough to break down the Italian defense and after the spotter never looked like scoring.
this tournament is a money spinning racket for FIFA and a chance for the Brazilain FA to recoup some of the massive debt they are finding themselves in as a result of hosting next years WC, i find it a most uninspriring concept to be honest
