I just turned this on with 49 minutes gone. The score caption said 0-0 but Tyler and Smith were talking about England being in front for at least the next 5 minutes and saying it was important they didn’t concede straight after scoring etc. Then Tyler piped up and said it appears we were wrong and England didn’t score. Anyone watching? How could they get that wrong? I’ve no idea what happened.
Insigne freekick into near post top corner puts Italy 1-0 up. The referee initially awarded a penalty but then changed his mind and gave the freekick on the edge of the box.

Who can tell me who has the most senior club appearances out of all the players at the tournament?[/quote]
Stefan de Vrij
The English are fairly glum here on Sky Sports after that defeat - the fact they can’t retain possession is hurting them. Same debate is happening with regard to the senior team too. Veratti had 120 passes and England’s highest passer was Henderson with 44.

How did Italy play Bandage? I caught the first half but had to nip out for the second. We had an absolute stonewaller of a penalty not given when Florenzi was hacked down in the box just before half time. We seemed to be well on top however.
Wasn’t paying close attention but Italy had the vast majority of possession and were probing in the English half for the majority of the second period. Verratti and Insigne were pretty impressive though Butland could have kept out the winner. I saw that penalty decision at the end - utterly ridiculous - but the confusion I mentioned earlier was for a disallowed England goal from a set piece which looked dubious too. Stuart Pearce was fairly honest in his post-match interview and said England were awful and beaten by the much better team.

Probably some Israeli that’s been playing for the first team since he was 15
No, he’s from the Dutch team.
Strootman?
No
Are they beginning to see a pattern yet? Been going on too long for it to be a coincidence at this stage - there is something deficient in the way they are producing players versus what’s coming through in other European countries. Seems like every game they play against any other decent footballing nation at any level is going the same way. They’ll get the odd good result obviously because that’s the nature of the game, but they are ceding majority possession every time.
Leroy Fer?
He made his debut aged 16 and has over 150 Eredivisie appearances for 2 big clubs in that league plus another 50 odd in cup competitions - half of those in Europe.
