2013 Lakeside World Darts Championships

Bunting’s average was 91 in the first round, not 97 as Bandage reported.

Bandage in your knowledgeable opinion, who is going to win this tournament?

Surely Scotty Waites will walk it now?

Bunting’s average in the first round was 92 and not 91 as Sandymount Red reported.

6 legs out of 7 for Geert and he leads 2 sets to 1.

I must say, I do like Tony Eccles. He said he would knock Phil Taylor out if he ever acted the dick on stage against him like he did against van Barneveld last week.

That’s bull for Tony Eccles and he leads 2 legs to 0 in the fourth set.

Another belter of a match. Haven’t seen a bad game so far yet this tournament.

Oh yes! 20, D20, D20 finish by Tony to take out 100 and seal the set!

Another deciding set at the Lakeside. We are being absolutely spoiled here.

This could go all the way to the sudden death leg. Quality battle so far.

Great to see Eccles applauding that finish. Very classy.

Brilliant by the Belgian! 116 out shot and he’s one leg away from victory. Great camaraderie as Tony applauds the shot.

Ah these are just magnificent scenes. A great evening for Belgian darts.

Geert takes out bull with his last dart to win.

What. A. Fucking. Match.

Ah, the Lakeside.

Magic final set from the Belgian

I dragged the missus out to the boozer last week to watch the PDC final. She was aghast at the drunken chav antics of the crowd and subsequently spent the match dozing on the counter.

Yesterday, we stuck on the Lakeside in time to see young Jimmy devour Wolfie. Some quotes from the missus: “Ah yeah, this is the one my dad watches. This is much nicer.” “Even the guys look much nicer.” “I like the way crowd actually watch the darts.” “Ooh, there’s Colin…how did he get on this???”

Long live the Lakeside.

Another match that sums up all that’s great about this tournament.

Tony started like a train and at 2-0 up in legs in the second set it looked like Geert was going to be fatally stung by the Viper.

But all credit to the Belgian as he battled his way back into it to win that crucial second set and then the third. But that double double top finish by Tony to get back to 2-2 was simply sublime. You simply don’t get that standard of finishing anywhere else.

Geert really showed his class in that final set and he’s a terrific each way bet in this tournament. Belgian darts fan Jackie in the crowd nearly had to be sedated. That’s what this tournament means.

Great camaraderie from Tony throughout that match, it’s great to have back at the home of darts.

Real Darts, Real People - that is the difference

Jackie seems like a great guy.

Can’t wait for Montgomery-Jennings but I can’t help but cast my eye forward to the Scotty Waites match. I really think Scotty will rock the Lakeside with a 9-darter this week.

Ross Montgomery v Paul Jennings next.

Jenno won 4-1 when the players met at the Antwerp Open last year and it’ll be very interesting to see if the reigning Latvian Open champion can repeat that result.

The two lads are good friends off the oche, so expect bags of camaraderie whichever way it goes.

That’s the kind of lady every man should want to take for his wife. You could have your reception at the Lakeside, Thrawneen.

Would it be Jackie or Jacky? I think the latter, based on retired French cycling legend Jacky Durand, who was from northern France…

I think it’s important to get this right.
