He threw a fair shape at one stage there alright
Cavan manager giving out to stink that a double header involving the 4 provincial winners is played in the midlands !!..
A fair bit of sour grapes alright. They were seething about McHugh not being black carded before he kicked the equaliser too, but it was a clear enough case of the Cavan player dragging him down on top of him. They pointed to a few instances where they felt Dublin got the benefit of the new advantage rule (like for the winner) and they didn’t but nothing stood out too much to me as a neutral as being off the wall.
That said, the referee (O’Mahoney from Tipperary) is a proven clown. There was a Wexford-Westmeath league match last year where Daithi Waters was destroying John Heslin and the latter went to ground holding his face before a kick out in the second half. No contact whatsoever, complete cheating etc but the referee consulted with O’Mahoney (linesman) who advised him to send Waters off.
Wexford produced video evidence showing literally no contact between the players and the linesman standing with his back to the field and looking into the stand as Heslin took a dive.
Obviously Waters was cleared etc but what kind of simpleton makes that call on a whim/guess? That’s the type of referee coming through the ranks.

i’d say that there is so much of a gap between what the referees and the players are thinking regards the black card etc. all hell is going to break loose this summerin the football championship…but the cavan manger turning it into a Dublin thing is just pure deflection…in the current climate it is easy have a pop at Dublin for anything…
on the topic of refereeing in general and how difficult it must be I watched Match of the day and alan shearer was saying sunderland deserved a penalty against Chelsea, on setanta Kenny Cunningham was saying it was never a penalty as the replay clearly showed altidore stood on Chelsea defenders leg and lost his balance…thats with the luxury of replays, how the hell can the ref get it right with a split decision …

Split opinion, only one decision.
Refereeing is only hard if you make it hard on yourself. A large majority if GAA refs are in it for the wrong reasons, many taking out little man syndrome or a lack of talent on superior footballers and others carrying old grudges (remember most refereeing is local).
I have been inside the referees world and it is a dispicable dark place where the attitude is “us against them”, we’ll show these cunts who’s boss.
When I did the course the main instructor (an employee of the GAA) got several rules wrong and even made a mistake with rugby.
Until they start paying refs we’ll always have the problem. Or at least making it more attractive.

Sour grapes from Cavan, thought the Dublin lad who kicked the equaliser should have received a black card in fairness though.
There’ll be mayhem in the championship with the black card. Lads getting the benefit of the doubt in the opening few minutes of games and escaping with yellow cards, black cards being flashed everywhere in the last ten minutes of tight, niggly games. Pundits pointing at a lack of consistency etc. Feel a bit for the referees, they get criticised even when they get calls right, never mind making mistakes.
Not sure why any person would put themselves forward as an inter-county ref when they get nothing but abuse in most of the cases.

They should already be banned for failing to field a county hurling team anyway.
Cunt of a county.
And their players dodging drugs tests allegedly.
Dublin’s Shane Carthy battling a big black dog, it seems. Missed the semi-final and presumably will not be considered for the final.
Good luck to the fella, hope he can get back to full health shortly. Strange that Dublin have issued a statement on it but then again issues like this are brushed under the carpet the whole time so maybe it’s a good thing that it’s discussed and out in the open.
From The Score.
DUBLIN GAA HAVE revealed that under-21 star Shane Carthy is currently receiving treatment for depression.
A statement, which confirmed the news this evening, read as follows:
“The Dublin County Board, the Dublin Senior and U21 Football management teams would like to report that senior and U21 footballer Shane Carthy is
currently receiving treatment for depression.
“We are satisfied that Shane is receiving all the necessary support and are happy to report that he is making progress with his illness.
“We would ask all units of the media and indeed the wider GAA family to support Shane and his family on this matter and to respect their privacy. We would directly appeal to reporters not to contact the family or family friends. Shane is a 19-year-old dealing with a serious problem and we are confident that his and his family’s wishes will be respected.
“We would like to thank both football management teams and panels and the Naomh Mearnóg club for their support for Shane during this difficult time. Over the past few years the media and GAA players have been to the forefront in helping to promote positive messages about mental health and this is to be very much welcomed and supported.”
Carthy has been a key part of the Dublin U21 side in recent times and has also featured for the senior team in the league this year.
He was named man-of-the-match against Meath in this year’s Leinster U21 final, though he didn’t play in the team’s All-Ireland semi-final against Cavan.
Hope the lad gets well soon. Fair play to Dublin for not trying to hide what the lad is suffering, hopefully it will bring focus on the condition and help others get help.
Roscommon getting the shite bate outa’ them in Tullamore. 13 points down at the tea break (0-14 - 0-01 with missed penalty).
Costello, Mannion and McHugh on fire in the Dublin inside line. The Roscommon manager hasn’t a fucking clue, they’re getting destroyed in the middle and he yanks the full-forward. Gobshites (but I suspected that).
Well worked goal there - lovely dummy from Costello.
