Whatâs it to you? It just is.
All and sundry in Malahide have backed Maurs to beat St Sylvesters this evening.
Maurs opened up @ 9/4 but that price is long gone.
My pals in Malahide tell me theyâll be doing well to win any league or championship game this year due to the amount of country cousins they have lost since last year
The Hunky Dory Tyrone Senior Football Championship started on Thursday. 3 games have already taking place, with the remaining 5 happening over the next two days. The big one from the opening draw was between Errigal Ciaran and reigning champions Clonoe, Ciaran McGinley was black carded for Errigal after 3 minutes and Clonoe were reduced to 14 men just before half time with Colm Dorris getting a straight red. Clonoe ran out winners by 1-10 to 0-10 in the end, dumping Errigal out of the Championship and progressing to the quarters. Peter Harte was also shown a straight red late on in the game.
In the other games, Eglish eased past Donaghmore by a scoreline of 1-14 to 0-10 with the three McKenna brothers (Conor, Emmet and Ryan) all featuring on the scoreline for the victors. Augher also beat Strabane by 1-14 to 0-12. In the intermediate championship Mattie Donnellyâs younger brother Richie scored 1-10 in a convincing 1-18 to 0-5 win for Trillick over Killeeshil.
Few big games coming today and tomorrow. Dromore play Killyclogher, Killyclogher have been going well recently but look set to be without county panelists Tiernan McCann and Dermy Carlin, so unless they can make it youâd have to fancy a Dromore side with experienced players like Ricey McMenamin and Colm McCullagh. If Killyclogher manage to get McCann and Carlin back fit I would give them a slight edge.
Omagh and Coalisland is another very tight game to call, Omagh havenât won a senior football championship in 26 years now but boast the most county panelists over any other club in Tyrone with 6 current members of the county set-up (Justin & Joe McMahon, Barry Tierney, Conor Clarke, Conan Grugan and Ronan OâNeill). Plunkett Kane and Paddy McNeice will be the main men for Coalisland. I expect Ronan OâNeill to push Omagh through in a tight game.
Moy should account for Moorstown on Sunday, I would expect Ardboe to have too much for Cookstown and Carrickmore should progress past Eskra.
Is Dublin straight knock out?
Yes.
Dromore ran out winners by 7 points against Killyclogher, McCann did not play but Carlin seemed to be togged out. Omagh and Coalisland in action now.
Is that a knock out format?
Yes. 16 teams, straight knockout.
Coalisland lead Omagh by a point at HT.
Omagh staged a strong finish to the second half to win by 2 points against Coalisland tonight having been trailing by 3 points in the final 10 minutes.
Dr. Crokes beaten by Rathmore in the Kerry SFC, their first loss since 2009. They still get another chance, however.
Moy, Carrickmore and Adrboe all through to the quarters today.
QF draw looks like this
Clonoe vs Dromore
Carrickmore vs Augher
Omagh vs Eglish
Moy vs Ardboe
Clonoe will be missing the Doris brothers who were both given straight reds against Errigal but I would expect them to squeez past Dromore but it should be a very tight game. Carrickmore should progress without any trouble, Omagh will probably have too much for Eglish as well. Moy and Ardboe is a really difficult one to call, I think Ardboe might shade it.
