What is dumb about this kev?

Don’t know where @dodgy-keeper has gone but I’m just back from Kilmallock.

The Balbec don’t make it easy on themselves, that’s for sure. Sloppy start, some big names not performing and the old failing of woefully wayward shooting at times. That said, they were excellent in the second half before nearly making a total balls of it at the end. The one new facet they’ve brought to their game is a steel that was lacking a bit in previous campaigns. They never gave it up and just about edged it even though I thought Sars played the cuter hurling for a lot of the game. Cian McCarthy was immense for them and Cussen, although cumbersome, is perfectly suited to hurling at this time of year.

Kilmallock’s full back line was in all kinds of bother early on and Sars could have 3 goals got before the half-back line coughed up two of their own. Philip O’Loughlin’s one-sidedness meant a straightforward clearance was flicked away from him, causing the first goal and Paudie O’Brien was put on his arse with a belt of a shoulder when losing possession for the second.

Keneally, in fairness, tormented them all day and I thought Jake Mulcahy was very good. Bryan O’Sullivan hurled in patches but those patches were very effective indeed.
Brave call bringing on young Paddy O’Loughlin to the full-forward line but it worked out very nicely and he contributed 1-1 off limited ball.

Fergal Horgan is a bizarre referee. Spots little things and misses the blindingly obvious. He was hard on Sars in the first half but made up for it later. Someone above mentioned Sparrow’s antics on the sideline. I was in the low stand and fairly nearby and all I can say is that both Bainisteoirs appear to be total cunts.

Well done Kilmallock. I hear Cratloe won the other one well ( what the hell did Denis Maher do at the throw in?), so it should have the makings of a good final. Do we know where it will be held?
Corofin may well be among the favourites for the football overall, but I think The Willies are a great bet (+12 @10/11) for anyone interested in a handy weekend accum. Whateverway the game enfolds, they won’t surrender, throw their shoulders to the sky and look for someone else to blame.
By fuck they won’t, it’s not their way nor was it ever.
Sons carrying the traditions of fathers will take the field, the death yesterday of former legend Frank Smyth’s mother will unite the little half-parish and I’d expect The Willies to come out blazing on Sunday. As TDB says they have nothing to lose, a bunch of young lads, unburdened by expectation and sans baggage in Connacht semi-final. Fuck it, what’s not to like about it from a gambling perspective…
Or not

HON THE WILLIES

:o

Panic over, he’s surfaced on the Limerick GAA thread!

Great win. Think we are better off not playing at home. Good to see us scoring a few goals for a change.,

Vincents could and should have won by another 10 points yesterday. They could have had 3 more goals in the first ten minutes, and its a credit to the likes of Bruno McCormack and Cahir Healy that Portlaoise got it even back to a point before the break. But it was false hope, Vincents just tore them to shreds in the second half. While Healy held Connolly to one point from a free, in fairness he dictated everything else and while Healy had another good game on him, Connolly is just a class class act. The skills and control he showed in horrific conditions underfoot were a joy to watch, he is something else. Also a special mention for forum favourite Ger Brennan, who got a chance to box the head off Zach Tuohy and took it with great glee. It was dirty out, but it was pure Brennan

That’s Portlaoise done as a Leinster “force” for sometime now in my opinion. They’ll pick up a few more Laois titles, but whats coming through won’t replace whats gone the other way and that doesn’t bode well for the town or for Laois. There’s some very bad times coming down the tracks for Laois football.

As for Vincents, they’ll be hard bet, and if they can keep the all important hunger™, I can’t see anybody stopping them. @Il Bomber Destro asked earlier who could stop them, I’ve had a sneaking suspicion for Corofin out west and think if its not them, it won’t be anyone.

Looks like Connolly’s plan to take Cahir Healy out of the game worked a treat.

I think you’re mistaking this years game with last years.

Now that Aughawillan are out, I’ve had a few quid each way on Austin Stacks to win the football at 12/1

Where was the Kilmalock support? It was like a home game for Sars. Maybe Cratloe would be aswell off playing in Kilmalock.

True, some might even say their chances are about 12/1
very little chance

Think they’re value at 12/1 Kev

Cratloe the only danger down south imo and I reckon all the games will eventually catch up on them.

There doesn’t look to be any outstanding team in Ulster since Crossmaglen self destructed against Omagh.

Therefore, I expect them to make the final, at which point our place bet has come in and we sit back and hope for the best in the final.

Don’t think they’d beat St Vincent’s but if Corofin or Ballintubber take Vin’s out in the semis, we’ll have a right chance.

Basically, the selection is based on value

Sneaking suspicion? Corofin and Vincent’s have been the bookies favourites the last month, albeit cross were in the running too. Poor outta you wooly.

Ps can you introduce me to Marie Crowe mate?

Did you not hear, Corofin don’t have the forwards to win it according to our resident spoofer in Perth.

Also, that’s Mrs Sheehan to you pal.

@caoimhaoin is there any reason why Ballincollig shouldn’t be backed at least to win Munster @7/2

Ya fair enough. But I have it on very good authority, a participant, that this year was a pretty poor championship in Kerry.

On paper Ballincollig have more talent and have a very strong defense with loads of size and fitness. They have been the sleeping giant in Cork. Every one of their team bar one and most subs have played for Cork at some level.

I just wonder do Stacks have someone to mind Paddy Kelly AND Miskella. Obviously Donaghy is a concern on the other side, but as I said 1-9 is Ballincolligs strength. And they are not found wanting up front either. They totally dismantled some very good Cork teams like Muskerry, Nemo and Carbery Rangers.

Personally I don’t see any Munster team winning out, the 3 you mention above are the clear favorites IMO. Vincent’s seem to have a fluency and stability that will be hard to knock. Not too many senior county men either which is a help.
