The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) will surely want to scrutinise a particular controversy that caused much anger inside Rehab from the many well-motivated managers in the organisation. This concerns an initiative that began in Rehab but which was siphoned off in a deft privatisation move by Angela’s husband, Sean Kerins, her brother, Joesph McCarthy; and her close collaborator, Fine Gael handler Frank Flannery.
In 2008, managers at a Rehab subsidiary, Rehab Recycle, came up with the idea of importing coffin parts from China at a most economic cost of €100 to €150, including delivery costs, and using Rehab employees to assemble and sell them. Throughout the summer of 2009, projected figures indicated a profit of €100,000 in the year 2010, rising in subsequent years.
However, in late 2009 Rehab Recycle managers were told by HQ that they were not to import the coffins themselves but to take them from a private company, Complete Eco Solutions (CES), whose founding directors and shareholders were Sean Kerins, McCarthy and Flannery. CES had been set up in November 2009. According to documentation supplied to The Phoenix, the cost of importing the parts via CES was to be €400 per coffin, a considerable increase on the original price negotiated by Rehab Recycle.
There was much disquiet in Rehab over this transfer of business to the private company CES. AT one point a financial controller in Rehab refused to sign a cheque for €70,000 to CES as an initial payment on the coffins order. (see The Phoenix 8/4/11). The coffins plan was eventually dropped after The Phoenix expose.

Fucking hell. The CEO of a major organisation here who was doing an outstanding job has just been suspended over the award of a contract for a few thousand pounds to someone she had previously been introduced to at a networking meeting, and that fat cunt gets away with trying that, using rehab labour to feather her husbands nest. She should be in fucking jail in my opinion if they could find a cell she could turn round in. That story is disgusting.
