It seemed like a piece Of piss to him, kicking 60M frees off the ground etc. two footed, could dummy at ease with both feet. Could have been a serious Inter County player.
He went to school with a few of the lads on our team and he had pulled the race card in a rugby game and in nights out in Cork as well, allegedly of course. Seems to hve grown up a lot though in fairness.
Kev you say ‘allegedly’ he was racially abused. It’s hardly beyond the bounds of possibility that he was actually racially abused all those times in fairness. So this seems like a strange stick to beat him with.

Not sure if you are misquoting DOR or she is talking shite. But “high knees” sprinting is for the track and of little use to field sports players who have a more tilted form of acceleration.
Not to mention the fact that Zebo was in athletics from a young age and one of his parents was an Olympic sprinter. So his talent is genetic.
There is also the possibility that losing weight and training more for field sports made him run better on the field and not track training. It was probably in fact the complete opposite to what you are suggesting, you uninformed muppet.
Zebo’s father wasn’t a sprinter pal. 800m was his event.
Yea I heard her mention that in the past, think it was on Second Captains or Off the Ball. Very interesting listening.
Kev has just disagreed with a Championship winning sprinter and believes he knows more about sprinting than her.
This is one for the ages folks, one for the fucking ages :D
Yes it was on Off The Ball, thanks MBB.
Kev, DB has a contact in Newstalk, when you’re home Im sure he could arrange a 5 min slot to argue against Derval on Off The Ball.
Kev I’m saying he probably was racially abused. It goes on all the time on pitches and when fellas have drink on them on nights out. Especially if a fella like Zebo is standing out and acting a cocky as he would be. He was dead right to cause a fuss about it and this does not make him a cunt.
As you say earlier it’s almost impossible to know who to believe in those cases as its usually one word against the other. Given the amount of sly racial abuse he has definitely taken over the years I’d be inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt most of the time.

Just because she was a sprinter does not mean she is an expect in the science of it, or especially the science of field sport sprinting and acceleration. Which are technically and mechanically different.
I have worked with track coaches, and have learned a lot from them, but a lot of them who go and coach field sport teams completely forget the differences. Some even teach starter block mechanics which is very silly.
Very few field sport participants ever reach max velocity, their sprints are far too short, of the 5-30m variety. Plus they start from a standing position mostly.
So anyone comparing these things has to take this into consideration.
You are going on what someone said on the radio, and it’s helping you make a complete ass of yourself.
Derval may indeed know a lot about hurdles and sprinting, but she might be a bit off in what helped Zebo, who up to last season was still struggling with body fat and conditioning. Neither of which are technical issues but can affect running performance.

As I said DB can arrange it if you want to argue with Derval live on radio. I couldn’t be arsed arguing with a struggling chippy living in Oz who claims he knows more about athletics than Derval and her coaches who have been at the Olympics.
No doubt he was racially abused. But what I suspect happened was that it happened, he got a load of sympathy and attention for it and wanted that again and jumped to that conclusion on many other confrontations, even when nothing about race was mentioned.
You can’t be arsed cos you haven’t a fucking notion about any of it.
Of course I never said I knew more about athletics, or even mentioned dervals coaches. In fact, which you obviously don’t get, I’m talking about the transfer of training.
If I wanted to discuss anything with DOR, I’d get to it a lot faster than getting on to DB.
She is very insightful and could well e a very good performance coach, I like a lot if what she has to say on that subject. But, and this is if you are not mis-quoting her, she has this one at best partially wrong.
