2014 National Football League

Shouldnt be played in Croke Park.

Very lazy shot from Collins there. Had no angle to score a goal but just went for it anyway because it was the easy thing to try.

Dublin absolutely coasting this now. Ref should have blown up long ago.

Think he has to allow 70 minutes anyway.
How do we see the games going today?

Think Derry will take Mayo, you could probably say that 1-9 Mayo are the best team in the country but they have some really average forwards, including Cillian O’Connor who is hugely overrated. Derry are going along well and have the better forwards so if they can manage a decent showing in midfield then they will win.

I’d also expect Dublin to ease past Cork, the only Cork game I saw this year was when we drew with them in Cork and they weren’t at all impressive, Tyrone fully deserved to win that game. Dublin aren’t playing at all well but do have a good depth of talent and ability to grind results out. They have serious problems in the middle of the pitch from what I can see though - maybe that stems from Cluxton being absent but they were cleaned out by Tyrone in this sector in their last outing and this is arguably Tyrone’s weakest sector. McAuley has also been getting away with murder, figuratively speaking, in this league campaign. He is a foul machine and doesn’t seem to be able to tackle correctly at all. While Cork have topped the league and got a few impressive results I think they’ve had a very kind league campaign, 4 home fixtures which included bringing Tyrone and Derry all the way down to Cork and the relatively short trip to a dead rubber in Tralee. I also believe they are lacking a bit of mental toughness and won’t be able to curtail Dublin when they up their game in the second half.
:clap::clap::clap::clap:

10 on 10.

Full Time: Dublin 2-20 Cork 2-13.

Now back to Vetch Field for the conclusion of Swansea-Chelsea, or the Sea Derby as nobody calls it.

Dublin scored 1-9 without reply after Paddy Kelly put Cork 2-13 to 1-11 up. They also outscored Cork by 2-13 to 0-4 in the second half.

From what I’ve seen so far in the league campaign I would put teams into the following order for likelihood to win the All Ireland.

  1. Dublin

  2. Tyrone
    Kerry
    Monaghan

  3. Donegal
    Mayo

  4. Cork
    Kildare
    Meath
    Down

Kildare, Down

Pool 4 teams don’t have much chance but could manage a semi-final berth.

If Kildare and Down are in that pool, you can fucking sing it.

No Derry??? Kildare and Meath ahead of them?? It pains me to say, but that list is very poor. Monaghan aren’t ahead of Donegal, Mayo or Cork. Come on man.

Did I forget Derry? I’d put them in tier 3, I was extremely impressed with them today but they do lack a scoring threat in the full forward line as I alluded to earlier.

Monaghan are serious contenders for the All Ireland, the only thing that is against them is the depth in their squad. Conor McManus is probably the best forward in the country at the minute and the Hughes brothers are also magnificent. If they can keep all their key men fit then they are probably the biggest threat to Dublin.

Eoin Bradley will be some addition to that Derry team if the management allow him back from his soccer hiatus in time for championship.

Who was the poster again who pulled me up on my statement a few weeks ago where i said Derry were going great guns and were dark horses at for All-Ireland? Well, they’re into 14/1 with Paddy Power from a price of 50/1 a few weeks back and just made the league final having played most of semi-final with 14 men. I think that poster in question has some egg to wipe off his large nose.

Probably the same poster who laughed at your losing tip of Briar Hill for the Albert Bartlett

It was alluded to by @Il Bomber Destro I think earlier that the Bradleys may not exactly help the Derry cause and I agree. No doubt Eoin Bradley would be a better “scoring forward” than some of the current lads, but is he worth the hassle he brings. Doubtful. They’ve progressed this far without him and McIver will hardly be receptive to his inclusion at this stage.

What was it, a 10/1 shot i said was a good bet who went off at 5/4 and fell? The only one laughing at that is you Mac, everyone else can see that your opinion was wide of the mark, as it is yet again with Derry.

What “hassle” does he bring? I never heard of him mentioned as a trouble maker in all the years he played and starred for Derry. He is off playing soccer now because he is getting a few quid for it (he is a plasterer by trade so i suspect things would be slow in that area right now) and is enjoying it. And he wants to be included for selection for Derry come championship. Good luck to him i say. He is a serious footballer and if they bring him back into the fold they will be even stronger. Real dark horses Derry.

didnt you tip a 1/5 loser before?

You need to do a little more research into their (Bradleys) overall contribution (sic) to Derry football over the years. Off the top of my head I think they’re
Ballinderry men and there’s no issues with Ballinderry club or their players. Have a look into it, you’ll find smoke at least if not more…
