The Ireland rugby team in qualifying for the World Cup has had to overcome countries ranked in the Top 20 in the game worldwide. In contrast the Eire soccer team qualified for the 2012 European Soccer Champions by just beating Armenia (once they were a man down), Macedonia, Andorra & Estonia - none of whom were even ranked in the Top 50 in the world. The soft passage to the 2012 finals in Poland were starkly illustrated by Eire delivering the joint worst performance at a finals in the 52 year history of the tournament.
All credit to Eddie OâSullivan. Krasnoyarsk is always a tough place to go and get a result. There are no easy games in international rugby*.
There are many easy games in international rugby, some of them perverted sexual games of a low degree of difficulty*, played out between team-mates. Playing Ireland in a World Cup is another example.
**I am not perverted sexual games-0-phobic, as long as these games are conducted by consenting adults.
Every rugby football team in the world is ranked in the top 20.
And in all fairness-the two teams which contested the Euro 2012 Final were in Irealndâs group.
89 countries competed in the 2003 World Cup which Ireland successfully qualified for and then at the tournament proper reached the quarter final.

Donât be arguing. Lads here will tell you the joy theyâd experience if they win a Leinster senior hurling championship (5 competitive teams) or a Munster ( 5 competitive teams) with the ultimate goal being the first week in Sept (usually about 5 or less realistic contenders). Week long sessions at home, lads flying in, pitch invasions by delirious hordes etc

The rugby world cup has produced 4 different winners in just 7 tournaments (and France went within one point of making that 5 from 7 in the last World Cup). Thatâs a much more competitive spread of the spoils than the Fifa Soccer World Cup which has produced just 8 different winners in 19 renewals with Brazil, Italy & Germany with 12 between them almost accounting for almost two thirds of those.
Winning a pushing and shoving contest and winning a game of high paced skill such as football can not really be compared.
Incorrect.
Germany have never won the World Cup.
That is sort of my point. Rugby supporters by and large treat the result as irrelevant. Lads waving at the big screen, laughing, joking, âhaving a few scoopsâ yesterday as their team is beaten. I actually have no problem with the sport or with genuine supporters but rugby sold its soul to corporates and it became a social event and not a sport for most who watch it.
Did Sexton fuck up again yesterday?
Yes. He was worse than useless but you wonât hear any rugger bugger say it.
It appears he did but sure whatâs new.
Itâs amazing the amount of time some idiots spend running down and posting about another sport. Get out and get involved in your own sport and make it even stronger if it means that much to you. Itâs such a waste of energy running down a sport of all things.
Not a sport.
Not someone I take any notice of.
What fucking apes are at that, kev? I constantly run down rugby alright, but that ainât a sport. I donât think anyone on here would mouth off against a genuine sport or genuine sports people.
+1
How anyone can claim a bunch of bodybuilders trying to undress each other while dry humping on a field is a sport baffles me.
