I think with the full squad that should be available they could possibly square up but is it something like 10 of the squad from last year missing for various reasons? No county can compete at top with that sort of drop off. Kildare have had a good run but have faced fuck all. Saw the same with Laois over the past few years under Justin etc, all grand til you hit Croker and meet a serious challenger.
Yep - Brophy, Keith Cribbin, Dan Flynn, McGrillen, Foley, Hyland, Mullhall, O’Connor, Flanagan and Hurley all missing through injury/travel/AFL off the top of my head.
I’d agree about the calibre of opposition we’ve faced. Great and all as the occasion and result was, Cork were at nothing on Saturday, and I’d be apprehensive of calling it a full vindication of Ryan just yet. But still, getting back to playing in Quarter Finals is a success and its good to see some bit of positivity about the team after the last couple of years.
Kildare played a different Cork team to Kerry.
No Hurley, O’ Driscoll, Alan O’C gone after 12 mins, no Kelly, Shields back in the corner etc etc
Kildare played the same utterly shit Cork team that has failed to beat a side outside of Division 3 in the past two Championships that Kerry played.

In what was the golden era for Ulster football (2002 - 2014) Kerry still managed to win 5 All Irelands. Ulster won 5 all irelands in total. During that period Kerry had little or no underage success - one minor (last year) and one 21. While Ulster teams dominated the minor with 7 wins during that period yet they still couldn’t out do the Kingdom in the big one. Kerry went through transition/ re building for a lot of that time. Football went through one of its worst periods as spoofer and bluffers from Ulster tried to re invent the game by putting 14 men behind the ball and hand passing it up the field the Kingdom still lifted the top prize more than anyone. It must be galling for Ulster football fans to know even when they are at their best they still can’t topple Kerry.
Their players are shit, mate. Kevin just happens to think because they are from Cork they are amazing. They imported a runner down from Antrim a couple of years and now he’s their best defender who is tasked with their main marking jobs.

While the Ulster teams were battering each other in intense battles, Kerry were getting safe passage to the last 12 every year. Kerry would have been blessed to get 2 All Irelands in that time period had they played in Ulster. Ulster football is high on quality, grit and fearlessness which means pretty much every game is an attritonal. It’s hard to peak for 4 months in year. Kerry know they only really have to peak for 6 weeks.

and there is no battles in Ulster. Just a bunch of bog standard footballers who are extremely fit but can’t score meaning most games are close which then the media report as being a great game or a “battle”. If Kerry were in Ulster they’d win all around them.
