I’ll not argue against the obvious, yes his actions were embarrassing and completely lacking in class. Does not do our rep any good etc, etc.
But at the same time, it’s gone into overdrive because it’s Tyrone. You look at the way Kerry have played out their games against Mayo, Donegal and Cork in the past 12 months and the scant lip service that was paid to it. Are you not saying that’s a gameplan? What players would you say were goading today?
To be fair to McCann I haven’t seen too much of those kind of antics from him before today, McNamee is abrasive player but I think you need that kind of attitude when you are deployed as the go to man marker. We’ve a certain amount of players who play sailing close to the wind but any top team will have that. Monaghan badly lost their discipline and they should have known better. When you’re in the business of winning you’re not going to drop a big player for an on the field action and once again Tyrone would not be unique in this manner.
Rightly or wrongly oul lads will hate that and he will be disdained He is a pariah and trying to front up to it is like somebody walking past a graveyard saying " I am not scared I am not scared "
Keeping a low profile and hoping it all blows over, its probably the best way to deal with it…he is obviously embarrassed and will come out on social media soon apologising…the cunt that hacked his account and put that up is the real enemy tho.
Unfortunately its football so it will take Kerry awhile to dispatch them in what will probably be a borefest. At least if it was hurling the cats would have them begging for mercy by half time
It’s Sky Sports we need to be getting rid of. Or if they are here to stay, get rid of the equestrian and rugby league “personalities” they use…and Senan Connell
McCann compiles motivational diving music CD for Tyrone team
It’s well documented that on their way to their first ever All-Ireland in 2003, Tyrone drew inspiration from a music compilation CD they compiled themselves and which they played on the bus to every match. Each team member contributed one song which meant something special to them. For example, the late Cormac McAnallen famously picked Spandau Ballet’s “Gold” as it symbolised the prize the team was fighting to win - that elusive first All-Ireland.
Now, 12 years later, current team member Tiernan McCann has revived the idea and has compiled a new motivational playlist of music to dive to. The current Tyrone team may be less highly rated than the 2003 team, but McCann believes that through diving to get other players sent off, their lack of football ability can be overcome through sheer force of numerical advantage.
McCann has carefully chosen all the tracks and here we give you a unique insight into the motivational tool which Tyrone believe can rock the rest of Ireland and help them dive their way all the way to the Sam Maguire Cup.

I watched the Tyrone game yesterday. Didn’t bother Mayo and Donegal. I’d remove the tyrone and monagsh teams for the championships for ten years. It was a disgrace.
Can anyone tell me what Mayo players were booked on Saturday? A mate backed Aidan O’Shea at 9/4 for a yellow card but it hasn’t been settled yet and none of the match reports mention any bookings. There’s a Sky screenshot saying 3 Mayo players were booked but nowhere are they detailed.
Fair play to Pete McGrath for calling it like he saw it. A gent of the highest order who could coach a team to win in an honest, forward and manly way. Oh for the likes of his Down team to come out of Ulster once more
Fermanagh boss Pete McGrath agreed that a number of ‘dark arts’ are now prevalent in Gaelic Football. “Diving, simulating injury, trying to get players black carded, yellow carded, red carded. “Intercounty senior players have to accept that they’ve got a responsibility, every time they take to the field. “They have to play to win honesty and fairly but they’ve got a bigger mandate in terms of the image they project of the game, particularly to younger players watching that.”
