2015 All Ireland Football Championship - FOR THE LOVE OF GOD MAKE IT STOP

I’m not talking about the forum, I’m talking about referees up and down the country, the referee adjudicators, and the Football task force committee who implemented the rule. I’m sure they will all agree that they are indeed wrong, and in fact, a lone enlightened poster on TFK is in fact absolutely correct, and we have been playing to the wrong rules for the last 2 years.

#everyone else was wrong

I thought that was the definition of the advantage rule? You get advantage. If you get no advantage you get a free.

Really looking forward to Sunday’s game

What you reckon mate? Think Mayo will take them myself.

The advantage is that chance that accrues, it does not necessitate the conversion of that chance. If a referee plays advantage and the advantage allows an opportunity to take place then it’s tough look if the player can’t take advantage of it.

Words with Nembo

If he deems no advantage to have occurred

It doesn’t refer to “a chance”

It doesn’t refer to “an opportunity”

I know what you want it to say, but it’s there in your Queen’s English. Read it again (and again ad infinitum) until you get it

No mate, you’re just wrong on this one.

It doesn’t refer to a score either. It refers to an advantage, nothing is saying a score is prevented by a foul, the only thing prevented is an OPPORTUNITY to score. If an opportunity to score accrues then that’s the advantage, not making sure they have two chances at it. The advantage rule is used in this manner in Soccer, if the chance is missed then that’s the end of the matter.

pity this isnt soccer then, that must be where you are mixing up the rules.

No advantage refers to an opportunity being denied not an opportunity not being converted. Your absolutely stupidity here is unbelievable.

does it? so every game has been refereed wrong for the last 2 years so? and everyone who brought in the rules are wrong? this is scandalous how it hasnt been enforced properly to your thinking since its inception.

If he deems no advantage to have occurred

You’re making progress, good lad, now just stop going off on tangents.
Keep reading it.
Stop thinking about “scores”.
Stop thinking about “opportunities”.
Stop thinking about “chances”.
Stop thinking about soccer, cos that’s a different game with its own rules.

I’m hopeful you’ll get it soon

Ah lovely. My work is done.

Christ almighty.

Why would he allow two chances at? Think about that? The sport where they have taken the advantage rule from enforces it in the manner that one chance occurs, it does not offer recompense when the person afforded the advantage fails to make use of it. You are saying that it does in this manner which is incredibly dumb and wrong.

Yeah fancy Mayo mate. Can’t see Dublin coping with Mayo around the middle. Fenton has had a seamless introduction into championship football but I think he’s in for some shock and awe on Sunday.

As for Bastick and McAuley - meh

have you the text for the soccer ruling there? that might help clarify things.

A 3.30 throw in on Sunday lads.

Tipp vs Kildare in the minor at 1.30

The hint is in the thread title lad. No-one here is talking about soccer.

The purpose of the advantage rule is indeed to give a benefit to the fouled player

I refer again to the actual rule as it’s written

If he deems no advantage to have occurred

Stop going off on tangents. Your interpretation of the rule is incorrect
I won’t need an apology either, if that’s what’s worrying you. It’s pissing down here and I’m hanging on to see @Mac’s horse race.

Tipp or Kildare, now there’s an unappealing warm up. By the way, stop trying to change the subject here, it’s very unedifying
