2015 All Ireland Football Championship - FOR THE LOVE OF GOD MAKE IT STOP

That’s very much a nordie thing. They use the term Gael freely to describe themselves In a somewhat Patronizing way though that they are more Irish than the rest of us.

I agree - I think Dublin’s first round should be away from Croke Park. I just don’t subscribe to the notion that it will make them more prepared for the eventual match-up with Donegal, Kerry, Mayo or whoever.

Yeah, that’s fairly clearly a load of shite. I don’t think going off to Miltown Malbay or wherever does much for Kerry in the big picture. But it might help a little in terms of creating a bit of hype locally in the other county if the Dubs came to town.

Hardly fair is it?

Not for the first time the GAA has found itself defending an apparent bias in funding towards Dublin. Figures released in the 2014 financial report show that Dublin received €1.46 million for games development – more than the other 31 counties combined.
This provided one of the main talking points at the report launch in Croke Park, which also showed hurling championship gate receipts opening a gap on football for the first time in GAA history (even if factoring in the All-Ireland hurling final replay), helping contribute to a €1.6 million increase in overall income for 2014.

There’s no defendinf for that.

Does this argument have to come up every fucking time. Jesus it’s painful.

Dubs would wallop anyone anywhere in Leinster.

Suprised that Jason decided to concede possession on kick outs today. They should be going man on man for kick outs and revert to formation afterwards.

Dublin dirty enough. Yet that fool mcstay moaning when Flynn (who thoroughly deserved a split lip) and Connolly got booked.

Colderick should’ve hot that corner back a smack in the puss for the carry on when he was being booked.

I actually think its a disadvantage the longer the season progresses for Dublin playing these Leinster matches in Croke Park. Dublin would still win even on the road, but they’d probably get a much more searching examination from Longford in Pearse Park or Wexford in Wexford Park than they would playing in Croke Park. Mayo and Donegal deservedly dethroned Dublin as All Ireland champions in the semi finals of 2012 & 2014 but Dublin’s lack of match sharpness and hardiness for battle were contributory factors both days.

Kildare. Has managed Westmeath, Offaly & Laois. Sons on Kildare team

Absolutely delighted for Tom Cribben, a thorough gent. A lovely two fingers to those on here criticising his training methods earlier in the year also. To Tom :pint:

I don’t buy that excuse at semi final stage. They have played a 1/4 and everything has evened up at this stage I think all bets are off at that stage.

I wasnt suggesting playing offaly in tullamore will have dublin primed for donegal. As i originally stated the more games dublin play in croke park the better for them in a way, All forwards shoot better on their home pitch which is what it is in reality. The benefit for dublin is the teams they play might lift themselves at home and tear into them a bit. Kildare seemed hardly interested today and longford barely disguised the fact they were there to fulfill a fixture. So is it on the basis of these pointless wins that dublin are considered the greatest thing since cut bread by rte etc? Id compare dublin to the tipp hurlers or a far lesser extent galways hurlers, what tbey have is excellent forwards which is rare enough. Once they get a run on a team or the other team isnt mentally capable or capable skill wise they can destroy them on the scoreboard. The likes of monaghan or tyrone, or even donegal cant put up the scores that dublin can, but this is when a game is a non event or already won. When it comes to a battle where they might be behind in the second half you couldn’t back dublin at all. They have no experience of this. They might not get it from going around the province but theyd have to get even slightly tougher games. The last thing dublin needed was a game like today, the media focus on them means they might not be able to insulate themselves from the hype.

Some of us even said it would happen.

5/2. Lovely.

Delighted for him after the injury, seems like a good sort. Has slimed down as well to a weight I think he should be at. He was too bulky for IC football in my opinion, or at least to play a middle 8 role where you might hit 6/7Km a game.

I think this is clichéd shit and it doesn’t really hold true.

They got hammered by Donegal last year - it wasn’t really a battle. Dublin started that match on fire, it wasn’t really a case of Dublin not having the stomach for the fight.

Their All Ireland wins against Kerry and Mayo both came after battling back to win games. Even in the league they’ve shown themselves capable of winning tight games and getting important second half scores. In fact it’s hard to think of the last time they lost a tight game in the Championship - the loss to Mayo in 2012, even then that was after a first half collapse and a decent fightback in the second half.

I’m not arguing that they can’t get cold, clearly it happens. But I don’t think their lack of competition has resulted in them losing games when they’re on the line in the second half. In fact their record seems pretty good in those situations.

Ah I think Dubs in Croker debate is a bit of a dead herring at this stage .

You’re wittier on this new forum @Appendage.

They were silly methods, and they had a vast injury list and took some serious clippings. However they seem to have got healthy and there is an element of that mad running that will hold you in good stead, however the risks of injury outweigh that value.

He made some good switches and moves today, and they showed great composure in last 10 mins. However. Large lump of it was a Meath capitulation.

A large lump of it was down to Cribbin’s methods.

They absolutely licked Meath for fitness and the spirit and passion they showed has to be credited to him also.

1-21 and now 3-19 is great scoring.

He’s doing something right, anyway.

There are many more things to being a good manager than the training anyway. While obviously important, selection of players, motivation, In-game thinking, tactical awareness and most Importantly talent can outweigh some training methods.

Sometimes the best training there is can still leave you way off the mark.
