2015 All Ireland Football Championship - FOR THE LOVE OF GOD MAKE IT STOP

Colin Walshe tore his cruciate around the 20th minute. Dublin hit 2-4 in the last 15 minutes of the first half (nearly all of which went through a struggling Walshe). The second half was a training routine. To this day, I have no idea why he wasn’t replaced. The result wouldn’t have been any different mind you, but the margin would have.

Don’t underestimate how toothless Derry can make other teams look. Donegal had a job to do and got it done.

Donegal were also due a ‘bad’ game. They were good against Tyrone and excellent against Armagh. A game where they win poorly is no problem.

Me neither. I watched this in a bar; like any good dub, and the general consensus was cruciate. If it’s blatantly obvious to some lads in a bar that he’d done his knee badly I have no idea why it wasn’t obvious to the monaghan medical team. Maybe expected him not to feel it with all the drugs they’re forcing on young fellas up there.

Michael Murphy? He is 25 at least

All those Donegal lads have fake birth certs. You wouldn’t know what age they really are.

Weekend of the 12th as well.

Don’t underestimate how bad Derry are.

Since beating Mayo in last year’s league, they’ve won just 2 out of 12 league and championship matches. The two wins were a 1 point win over a 14 man Down in this year’s Ulster championship and a dead rubber final league match against a weakened Cork side who had already qualified for the semi finals.

They limited Dublin to their lowest score in the league this year under Jim Gavin.

The 1-09 they limited Donegal to is the lowest score they’ve registered since the 2013 Ulster final against Monaghan in Championship football. They’re a very hard team to break down thus year with the tactical changes they’ve made.

Negativity and containment that’s all Derry are about. Is it any wonder they were knocked out of the championship last year by Longford.

Derry should take a long hard look at the football that’s been served up in the championship this year by Dublin, Westmeath, Meath, Longford and Wexford. That’s the way football should be played.

Longford got beat by 27 points by last years semI finalists and the game was over after 10 minutes. Derry were in a game with last year’s finalist until the last kilometres kick of the game.

The Leinster Championship is not a serious proposition. It’s naive and cheap.

I would take Longford to take Derry in championship football any day of the week. In fact, they’ve met in the championship three times in the last 10 decade 2006, 2012 & 2014 with Longford winning every time.

Longford v Offaly in the Leinster Championship was a superb game of football.

And I would take Derry to make a far bigger impact against a team with any serious aspirations.

What day of the week did these games take place Geoff ?

Derry have had negligible impact on the championship in the past decade. One quarter final in 2007 and one losing provincial final appearance in 2011 is the height of it.

The negative type of containing football we saw from Derry yet again on Saturday is all well and good in the Ulster Championship but even there that’s often not enough to win. When Derry come up against the more football minded and flair orientated sides from the Leinster Championship they have been found out time and time again. Over the last 9 seasons, Derry have exited the All Ireland Championship 7 times at the hands of sides from Leinster - Longford (3 times), Kildare (twice), Dublin and Laois.

I haven’t been to Derry in years. Is it a welcoming place for tourists, @Nembo_Kid?

It should be most welcoming on the Celtic Park pitch for the Wexford footballers anyway if Derry’s dreadful record against Leinster opposition over the last decade is anything to go by.
