The qualifiers took place this week and we now know the identity of the 40 players to take part in the greatest darts show on earth. The draw was made this afternoon and as always there are some particularly appetising ties, not least the meeting of the legendary Martin “Wolfie” Adams and Dutch dynamo Jan Dekker - that’s a repeat of last year’s epic quarter-final tie. Scotty Mitchell and Tony O’Shea is another one to look forward to. The quality of the field is demonstrated by the fact that defending champion Stephen Bunting hasn’t even qualified for this year’s event. Where else would you get it?

Ah lovely
Not long to go now. Can’t wait for THE darts.
David Cameron will walk this.
And Fallon Sherrock will win the ladies. Saw her on Eurosport 2 one night beating some Dutch munter.
One more sleep.
Lovely opening montage there.
Great to have our old friends Colin and Bobby back on the balcony.
Colin has got his hair cut for the tournament and a very nice haircut it is too.
I’ve been looking forward to the Wolfie-Double Dekker tie since the draw was made back in October, and we’re now only minutes away from it. I’m a bag of nerves.
Is timber tongue on duty this year at all?

A 22 dart leg secures first blood for Dekker.
Keep this level of form up and he’ll go a long way in this tournament
13 darter for Jan.
180 for Wolfie at the start of the next leg.
This is tremendous.
Wolfie so close to a 9 dart finish, hitting five treble 20s in a row. Eventually takes the leg in 12 darts.
Bull finish from Wolfie to take set 1 against the darts with another 12 dart leg! This is vintage stuff from the grand old master. Must be in with a great chance of a nine darter if he can keep this form up.
Jan hits back to level up at 1-1. Throwing 180s for fun now. But so is Wolfie.
Wolfie
Dekker pretty poor there. In fairness Wolfie is throwing fairly well.
Who will win this out @Sidney?

Anybody still in the competition could win it and that’s the beauty of it.
“They’re fantastic, the crowd here. I love each and every one of them, they’re brilliant, and that’s one of the reasons I love playing here at the Lakeside, because of this crowd. They’re so educated, they’re so nice, and they give everybody great support, they give order at the right time, and they cheer at the right time, and that’s what makes them so great.” - Martin Adams
Comedy gold on bbc1 now
The time of the next men’s game has been put back by god knows how long
Hedman hits a 152 c/o. Her Male counterparts can only dream of a checkout like that.
