Ah no, the provincial championships are massive fun. They’ve given us some absolutely fantastic rows over the years, and even more so since they introduced the Junior and Intermediate.
St. Mary’s would beat a St. Vincent’s/Crossmaglen Rangers dream team.
A 46 year old Maurice Fitzgerald and a 58 year old Jacko would come on for the last 15 minutes and swing it. Maurice would score the winning goal in the last minute from a sideline ball from 100 yards, and everybody would know he meant it.
A one off game in November is hardly a yardstick now is it. I would say a couple of years league results and competing with Crokes et al is a better barometer to be honest.
Intermediate champions in isolation (or Junior) can actually be very good. Just a bunch come thru or they are already senior in the other sport and there is a physical carryover.
Thats without ever going near the preperatio Marys had for that game.
