2015 Club Championships - the lads are STILL at it

Shane Carey was on the panel this year. They’d have 4 or 5 others who’ve played league/mckenna.

McCarthy is the corner forward. He opted out of the county scene this year.

I wouldn’t have Cross that short (5/4). It’s wide open.

Especially with Clarke not around. If Harps find their balls then they are good enough to take them in the final.

Some interesting odds on club competitions.
I wouldn’t touch Corofin or Cross who are the leading contenders according to PP.

Sid - Kilmacud have a serious outfit, good management, won the 7’s easily. Are they going to win Dublin?

Carbery Rangers to win Munster is a reasonable outside bet. Crokes are hot favourites for everything but there are doubts about them.

Dingle might be a good bet for Munster as well the way Kerry is set up they get 2 go’s at getting there.

They have to get over Boden first. Boden will give them their fill of it tomorrow night and have nice couple of young players coming through and I fancy them to beat Crokes. 7s form means nothing.

Your guess is as good as mine, really, Kevin. Any one of at least four teams could win it and Crokes are always one of those.

Personally though I’d be tempted by 9/4 on Boden to beat them. Boden usually cause them trouble.

A lot of the better teams meeting each other this weekend. Vincent’s v Ballymun is a huge clash. Probably the two best teams in Leinster.

I haven’t been following Ger Brennan’s recovery from injury so I don’t know whether he’s available for Vincent’s or not. However I’d never back against them either way as they have class all over the pitch. 11/10 on them to win in 60 minutes looks tasty.

are you honestly judging a team on 7’s form even though the likelihood is they’ll need nearer 21 to win a senior championship match ? do you play gaelic games?

Would many people go to a game like that?

No.

Probably not massive given game is on a Friday night on the other side of the city to the two clubs. There’ll be a few hanging around from Plunketts v Raheny beforehand.

From what I hear the big crowd will go to Ballymun and Vincent’s to watch the latest instalment of Connolly v macmahon. I believe its worth the admission alone.

It would to the team themselves. Bound to be a feel good factor to it.

You might be better off getting friendly with the Dublin psychologist rather than one of the selectors.

A clash for the ages, be it on the exercise yard in the 'Joy or the green grass of the 'Nell.

Jesus. Another one.

sorry? are you a wind up merchant? 7 a side is an indicator of form for championship?? next you’ll tell us Dublin won the all Ireland because of the go games!

Go way you bluffer. If a team as seriously self motivated as Crokes, with recent county titles, think some Mickey Mouse tournament in their backyard will boost their confidence levels then they must be starting from a very low base.

You don’t understand feel good factor do you?

Lads, lads, cut it out. I agree with both of you.

I agree with @Spidey that it would be foolish to read much into sevens form, but I also agree with @caoimhaoin that it won’t do Crokes any harm in promoting a feelgood factor within their camp and would point to the example of Corofin in 2013.

I do.

It’s when I earn a “nice post” badge on here. I have four of them which I cherish equally, hoping to win a few more in the future.

#feelgoodfactor

you don’t understand the mindset of high level gaa players. 7’s a feel good factor for a squad littered with senior club all Ireland medals?! Mannion will have a pep in his step now he’s got the big one to go with his county All Ireland medal! You’re some wind up merchant or else you live under a stone.

There is only one person not understanding here.

The fact you don’t understand feel good factor makes me think you have never had that feeling or you don’t really enjoy the games you play.

I’ll spell it out which is a bit mad as i only threw it in as ONE of the things they have going for them. Talent and a good management were also mentioned and not to mention experience and previous success. I just like the look of their odds.

Anyway;

  • team training all year, going well, wins a national competition hammering most teams
  • shows they have at least 10/12 leading players on form
  • bit of craic that night celebrating in their own grounds
  • dublin win the next day with a club member playing, more celebrating

Now what part of that do you think may not benefit them?

Winning the 7’s won’t win dublin. But winning dublin won’t win leinster either. Winning leinster won’t win the AI. But all those will bring a feel good factor.

You fucking tool
