I think Dr Cullen Park was the venue the last time Cuala faced Wexford representatives in the Leinster Championship. I should know as I was there on both days back in 1989 for draw and replay before Cuala eventually dethroned Buffers Alley as All Ireland champions. For the life of me I can’t remember definitively whether it was Carlow or Kilkenny but I’m leaning more towards Carlow. Athy was a popular venue for Leinster club hurling matches back in the 80’s as well. I remember going to a Buffers Alley v Kinnity match there in 1985 and the infamous Clara v Camross match in 1986.

Doubt it. Looks like it relates to under 21s which would suggest that it’s the Bennetts who play for Lismore underage. Mind you the crowd from the West of the county on boards are the most bitter begrudging cunts you could ever come across so a large pinch of salt would be required.

have you seen the proposals for change in Cork?
Ironically it looks like Ballinora might stay up now due to change in relegation set up.
Main good proposals I saw were,
- a team found in last game (i.e. relegation) 2/3 years will go down
- Big population clubs are being forced to put 2nd teams in Intermediate A grade. Very good idea
- 1st round winners play off against each other, this means winning a first round gives you another game that you CAN lose and more of a bridge between start of championship and true knock-outs.

Rather bizzarely TG4 have decided to show Cuala vs Oulart live with deferred coverage of Scotstown vs Crossmaglen on Sunday week. I’m sure @Nembo_Kid will agree that this is a disgraceful decision and a clear anti Ulster bias.
Thankfully common sense is prevailing this weekend with live coverage of Corofin vs Castlebar Mitchels. There will be deferred coverage of Na Piarsaigh vs Ballygunner after the main event in Tuam.

A disgrace, they’ll show a game with 20 men and their dog at it over one with a crowd of circa 10k.
It has to go down as one of the worst decisions in broadcasting history.

I think if I was a fíor gael with an interest in the gaelic football, I’d much prefer go along to the game and really infuse myself in the atmosphere. After all, its the last really meaningful gaelic football game of 2015, wouldn’t it make sense that gaelic football lovers would go to this game than simply watch it on ‘TG4’.
