If Chelsea get 5 years out of him on low enough wages plus no matter how bad he is they will sell him for at least 4/5 million in a few years time. It is absolute no brainier. Obviously at his age he can improve a fair bit too. He can cover two positions and is English qualified. He would be the perfect back up.
Van Dijk just like 99 percent of Scottish league players will get exposed in the premier league.
He is a quality young player who can play in a few different positions…

Quoting other overpriced English defenders to justify another overpriced English defender doesn’t change anything. Nastasic moving for 10m odd should be top of this price bracket.

Bruno Martens Indi moved for €8m last summer because there was no EPL team involved in the transfer. You can pick up an established international defender for €10m. Even a young one with lots of potential. Or you can have Stones for 4 times the price.
Lazio bought De Vrij for a similar price off the back of an impressive World Cup. Roma paid €15m for Manolas after an excellent World Cup and some very impressive Champions League performances.
