Galway were truly heroic today in the face of such adversity. Losing their best player and superstar Joe Canning to injury just before half time and having to make do all year without their second best forward Johnny Glynn who had to emigrate to find work. Counties from the golden vale just take things like a job for granted and have no appreciation of the tougher economic environment in the west of Ireland. Ultimately Galway ran out of men. They were throwing on Andy Smith as a sub when Tipperary could call on John O’Dwyer.
Probably no harm for Tipperary to win a close game for once. Last time they won one was when they beat Galway by 1 point in the 2010 quarter final. They’ll have to improve for the final.

No complaints, well done to Tipp, just about shaded it. Funny old game, Callanan rampant last year and Galway win, kept quiet from play today and Tipp win. Thought the Galway backs were heroic, forwards didn’t do enough ultimately, but the quality of ball going in wasn’t great.

Galway will look back to their period of dominance in the first half after the goal when they should have went at least 5 up and let Tipp back into it just before the break
