But if a ball clips the post a foot under the top of the post and goes over its a score. If it clips the inside edge of the virtual post a foot over the top of the post its a NIL. Seems inconsistent. Surely the software can be tweaked to predict whether the ball would have deflected over the bar off the virtual post?

Are you also gonna have that software take account for what kind of spin is on the ball too? They’ve made it as simple as they possibly can. If it is projected to hit a post they can’t confidently say it would have been a point, therefore it’s not a point.
